You definitely should. oh I didn’t know that. I thought they dropped GLUT from VS2012 as they say it’s outdated no?

That totally depends on the type of game. Something mostly straightforward. However, instructions should be available when required. A game that did it really well was Final Fantasy VII. It gave you options to skip tutorials if you knew how to do the stuff. If not, it presented them in a way that didn’t hinder gameplay.

Hadeel - Like CO said, if the game is simple.. no 3D involvement then there’s no need for a full instruction manual.. but if you’re developing something like Mortal Combat or Racing games.. then you need to give instructions. The pop up instructions are cool too.. like the ones that show up during the games.

Asked you guys about the GUI because I am the GUI designer and the programmer for our game. Looking for better ideas and the theme of our game is environment as well as it has to be a physics based game that became hard to think but we have managed it. Regarding GUI , I am planning to display instructions in the begining since it becomes easier for the player to get familiar with the game.

haha I’m glad you’re enjoying. Eclipse eh? Nice. I’ve never really worked on it as such.. what language are you using? Java?

I do Java more ,have worked in Eclipse,Netbeans, BlueJ so far. Going to learn PHP in a month time,want to know what it is.

Joining forum is a good source like OpenGL has official forum so it makes easier to ask for help if you get stuck. Otherwise, you can watch different tutorials on YT. I learnt OpenGL by playing with code.

Definitely! The lighthouse3d tutorials are pretty good for gaming programming. For OpenGL.. the ones from their own website. I learnt a lot from there.

Cn’t wait for PHP,what is it about?

Netbeans works like Eclipse,it does highlight the error.I think it is the king compared to BLueJ that is a dead editor.

PHP is a language used to make web applications with syntax similar to C/C++.

Lilly it’s a server side language and there’s nothing on the web you can’t do with PHP. And the best part it’s opensource. Any help you need.. you get it off the interwebs.
