Pakistanis are involved in islamic extremism and drug trade.
Bangladeshis are involved in radicalism, selling drugs and gang fights with Blacks.
Indians have white boyfriends, have children out of wedlock, and dress in next to nothing and drink like there is no tomorrow.
Just wondering why are Desis living UK so screwed up?
Desis in Canada appear normal and same goes for them living in USA.
I need answers…

I think this exact issue is discussed several times on Gupshup, and most recently in Muzna’s thread](http://www.paklinks.com/gs/showthread.php?t=226796) where several people gave their opinions. You have slightly widened the scope by including Bangladeshis and Indians too, though I suspect, inherent reasons remain the same. Feeling of alienation, rebellion, lack of appreciation for what their countries have to offer, lack of education/opportunities, cultural close-mindedness and undesirable role models.

The Pakistanis in the UK are in their 3rd and 4th generations.....the same will happen in Canada and the U.S a couple of generations down the road.

Not, it's not a mirpuri or even pakistani only problem. It's an extremist problem from a segment of radical sunni islam mostly. There is no one label for these type of people except perhaps terrorist.

No Canada and The UK are very different. The Pakistanis in Canada have integrated very well into Canadian society. There are many reason that account for this. Canadian society is very open-minded and accepting of multiculturalism. We are a country made on immigrants and have wonderful social services provided to newcomers. Also, Pakistanis are not isolated in little communities, they are living in many different social settings and communities. Most Pakistanis live in the Greater Toronto Area and have learned to maintain a fine balance between their culture and Canadian culture. Pakistani students also have a very high achievement rate in school and the majority of them do go on to post-secondary education (College, University). The UK is the exact opposite. The society is very racist and has isolated the South Asian community for decades. There are no proper social institutions which help South Asians to integrate. Pakistanis have the lowest achievement rate in education and are seen as the lowest memebers of society.

wel the future of pakistanis in canadian is not very bright from what I see, the trends are the same as they were in UK. Drive in Markham and see how many desis are in apt bldgs infested with roaches and plaster peeling off the walls.
The desis who got into canada a decade or 2 ago are a diff case, ask new desis moving to Canada how open minded and acceptign Canada is and how their experinces been trying to find jobs and you will see the writing on the wall. Canada needs to sort itself out quickly.
as far as canada not being racist and UK being racist, we all saw how accepting Canada was after 9/11 and especially recently whenthe ring was busted.
Yes Canada is very ‘accepting’ because ppl at lareg hae not experienced desis, and especially not the uneducated unskilled types that got into UK. Canadians are beginning to see that with all kinds of fols from pak immmigrating to Canada…and as more canadians especially the less affluent ones have to deal with new comers…we shall see. I am not even talking multiple decades..this is in the next decade.

The problem is with the Pakistani's themselves.
Many believe that Canada is only Toronto, so they stay to that area because they will be able to visit Jerrard Street type of areas all the time. They don't realize that there are higher paying jobs, lower cost of living and more to Canada than what Toronto offers.
For instance, Alberta or the praries.
Pakistani's choose not to move out to the West because mini Pakistan = GTA and dont try to venture into the real Canadian lifestyle.

I agree with this comment.
However, it would be fair to note that this is not limited to Pakistanis or desis in the UK. Just surf through the BBC website and look at the amount of violence being carried out by children amongst other children and adults in the UK. You can be white, black, desi, it doesn't matter.
There is very little social support and healthy after school activities which is why kids end up on the street and getting into trouble.
If you want to focus on just the desi aspect of this, then it comes down to the same thing. Very little social support and healthy activities for kids to be engaged in. Also, Faisal has made some good points too. Everything he has mentioned is a a factor as to why these people end up so messed up.

........MehnazQ is right secondary schools are the most safest place for these children to stay in., are all vulnerable and prone to violence, out of school. However there are after school clubs and activities going on and sometimes, they go home at 5pm but as they are out of school, indulge into violence at night times as well. I am talking about westerns. The real reason is that no family system at back. Sometimes I think they should be kept in school 24/7.....but its not possible as teachers have to go home at 3:30pm.

I think secondary schools are the worst. Nowadays the secondary schools in the UK are so messed up and usually all the kids there end up going wack, especially with the bad company. College is the same but a lil calmer coz the ppl there are slightly mature...

I dunno what colleges you guys go to, but over here, its pretty easy to stay away from the temptation simply because the bigger it is/the more ppl, the more diversity you have..noone’s gonna laugh at you ro make fun of you for dresing a certain way, for eating certain food etc..its different in grade school n high school.:halo:
