Look! Tamils are tamils. If they have hope in India they do well. If they have no hope in S Lanka, they commit suicide in the name of "Tamil nationalism" or "Tamil Hinduism". Why it is so with Tamil Hinduism? Because their big issues are with Buddhist S Lanka government.
If I remember correctly, it was a Tamil Hindu women suicider from India who killed Rajiv.

the conflict in Sri lanka is ethnic conflict and not religious
most of the sinhalese are buddhist and buddha is one of the hindu god
Tamilians in Srilanka follow Hindusim, Muslim, Christianity
and note that all most all muslims in Srilanka are tamilian
as muslim don't believe in Nationalism so they go seperate with LTTE,
and Tamil Christian and Hindus are united in LTTE Struggle
