Why are Hindi Films like this?

In most Hindi films I have seen (mostly when I was a kid) the hindus were always heroic and the muslims docile. Take Amar Akbar and Anthony for example. The Christian and the hindu were tall athletic and fair heroes while the muslim was a timid fat blimp. If you lok at Pakistanis and Indians in real life you know this isn’t the case. So why do you Indians do it?

Rishi Kapoor played Akbar in Amar, Akbar, Anthony. I dont think Rishi Kapoor a Punjabi is dark and fat. Nor was his character a docile one. Neetu Singh a Hindu played his fiance while Shabana Azmi a Muslim played the Hindu fiance of Amar (Vinod Khanna).

Amitabh Bacchan played a Muslim in Coolie. He was not docile. Deepak Parashar and Raj Babbar characters in 'Nikaah' we not docile.

In fact Indian films always tend to portray Muslims in a good light so as not to offend the minorities (Muslims)

durango,
I guess you haven't seen the following big name films released this year (although I'll admit I really liked Sarfarosh, despite it being blatently anti-pakistan, and not really anti-muslim):
-Kohram
-Hindustan ki kasam
-sarfarosh

Never really thought of it this way. Trust Mr. Xtreme to bring religion into every topic. Anyway, the thing is you guys associate Muslims with people from the North. You guys haven't seen/met Muslims from South India specially Kerelites, Tamils, Andra'ites' etc. They may not exactly fit your description of "tall and fair", although I admit that Pakistanis in general are definitely more goodlooking than Indians. Most of the actors/directors/script writers in Hindi movies are Muslims these days, so I wouldn't know why would they be "anti-Muslim".

Shame on all the muslims involved in filmy world and on those who support them

PakJunooni ka Nara :) Pak Hamara Tumhara

hmmm.... Xtreme, thatz a most interesting point you have raised ;) Let's see what we can do about it... are you tall, fair and atheletic? Mebbe i can get you a hero's role in a bollywood movie.. What do you say?

Has any one noticed also that the Hindi film industry which used to make excellent Muslim social dramas--eg pakeezah/nikaah/gazal/chaudvin ka chaand/tawaif etc..has stopped this kind of film almost altogether...??

BombayKid--a lot of the muslims in the indian film industry seem to be very secular 'muslims'..!!

Yes, new films are openly anti pakistan wheras b4 it always used to be 'dushman ke aadmiyon ne' ya 'aik paros wala mulk...' now its openly Pakistan!

I'm surprised! When you are a staunch supporter of Islamic rule on the politics forum and have fought tooth and nail over the glory of the mujahideen and taliban, how can you even envisage a thing like a "muslim social drama"? "tawaif"??? tauba tauba!! Blasphemous!

a lot of the muslims in the indian film industry seem to be very secular 'muslims'..!!<

Terribly disconcerting to a taliban supporting hindi cinema goer. Lets face it, muslims can indeed be secular.

I liked pakjunooni, atleast he doesnt change his views from forum to forum.

i don't much on the subject of them playing bad roles for muslims or whatever, and i don't like to see muslim's portrayed badly, but i really have to say to Pak Junooni- Just shut up, u r the most annoying person that post on this sites

"Dil hai ki manta nahin"- always 714

Films are the reflections of the time in which we live.Even in real life we find that unlike yeteryears, responsible people on either side of the border openly blaming each other. And now, Post-Kargil, it will be absurd to say 'aik paros wala mulk...' as Pak's blatant and belligerant

intrusion left no room for reluctance in naming the enemy.

Xtreme, you find religious overtones in just about everything, even in one of India's best-known secular institutions i.e. the Hindi Film Industry. You would do well to change your one-track mind-set (BTW, do u belong to the Taliban ?).

Queer,

are you tall, fair and atheletic?

Sorry pal, I'm not falling for that one...and with a nick like yours you should think twice before asking such questions ;)

Some1,

sorry to have maligned your secular film industry. Just curious though, when was the last time a hindu girl was shown falling for a muslim boy in an indian movie? I know it has happened the other way round plenty of times on screen.

oh man, can't help it if you're scared of me ;) Anyway, if it's any assurance, my room is plastered with posters of kajol and aishwarya rai. No males. Not even a feminine MJ or Prince.

Tell u what, Xtreme, I lost out on that one. May be because I am not a Hindi Movie buff myself. But interesting question u have raised. I will ask around . Does 1947-Earth count ?

I don't watch indian films either so i can't say. by all accounts 1947-Earth is a serious movie and one of the few that doesn't get involved in paki-bashing. I might even watch it to see if that's true.

If Indian films cause u such a problem. I have a solution.....don't watch them !!!!

Indian movies SUXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

Quote which is so true

"come on get a life ppl
new millinium is up and u still into stupid hindi movies......I wonder how come anyone can waste 2 hours watching nude woman dancing and hero killing all the bad characters.....

NO better way of saying this :)

Any Indian here, who has watched a Pakistani movie in his lifetime. We would like to hear from u.........
Except for the hero being always a safe distance away from the heroine part........
No wonder the Pakis have to watch Kajol for the real thing......

paki has far better ppl than bollywood stars in every streets........indians are all kalay and bad looking
