I hear this quite often-desi girls are generally considered hideous. Especially in comparison to white or Asian girls (by Asian I mean Chinese, Filipino etc).
What’s the reason for this? What is it about their features that is so unattractive? I mean I know not every desi girl is pretty but I do see plenty of pretty desi girls who dress well and take care of themselves in my uni. So why does this perception exist (atleast amongt males in my uni) that desi girls are ugly? Can anyone shed light on this?
I say it has more to do with the males who say that desi women are ugly than the females themselves. Most people want what they can't have, and if they're surrounded mostly by desis, some will get turned off by what they see and look to non-desis for dating/marriage. There are always going to be attractive and unattractive women in any given ethnicity/race, and for the ones that have issues with desi women, the unattractive ones will always stand out and, for lack of a better phrase, "taint" the group of desi women.

you are correct to certain extent. but then what is your definition of attraction?
most of the desi's in canada/us/uk are from Indian origin, for some unknown reason i don't find them attractive at all. on the other hand Pakistani's are quite attractive & beautiful compare to any other race except eastern Europeans.

I suppose the term I should've used is 'brown'. That tends to mean Pakistani/Indian/Sri Lankan and sometimes Arab at my uni. There are a lot of Indian girls at my uni but there's a significant number of Pakistani girls too. The vast majority are undergrad students and obviously at this age are very conscious of their appearance. Most of these girls do dress well and take care of their appearance. A lot of them are pretty. I don't get how women from this entire region (South Asia + Middle East) are painted with the same brush.

I guess you must be talking about the dating scene! I have see a lot of ugly desi girls (you know abcd which all are to some extent) but that being said, I don’t think chinese or japanese girls have an edge over desi girls. Maybe it is me, but I don’t find their small eyes attractive nor their food habits like eating snakes and other stuff (no offense intended).
As much as goris are hot , I would be married to a desi girl as there is nothing like the caring desi girl compared to the (mostly) obnoxious goris, who take equal rights to another level. To me, what good is an eye candy if she is a ***** and doesn’t care about you?
PS Indian girls can be unattractive, but no way Jose for our pakistani “babes”..

Are you talking about guys in general or more desis thinking that? I know quite a few black and desi guys who think this way but always assumed it was more to do with the pale skin thing..

Guys in general. I've come across a lot of desi guys who think this way but non-desi guys pretty much all hold this opinion. Whether they're white, black, Asian, latino etc this is something they all tend to agree on.
I know we all have our preferences…as do I…so maybe its just the specific people you’re coming across?
I haven’t met many guys who say this as a general rule…desi girls are unattractive. In fact, one of my ex-colleagues asked me why desi girls are so closed to dating outside of their race.
The thing about Indian girls imo is tht they don’t believe in grooming !! They think make up is a bad thing and those who do it are still stuck in the 90’s brown lipstick and lipliner era !!!
I mean the Arabs are dedicated to grooming themselves, I have never seen a shabby looking Bahraini/ Arab and oh my are they pretty, the makeup up and hair is always impeccable !! Even the clothes and shoes !!
Even if your features are not good, grooming can play in big part.
