It’s not a negatice thing… just a lable. Mainly used for South Asians.

I’m kinda surprised people would think it’s a negative word, when it’s used so commonly… even on the forum. And, as far as I’ve seen, never been in a negative way.

I use it almost regularly to distinguish who I am and who I associate with. (My friends vs my desi friends).

No it’s not. Those are two words that have exact opposite meaning. Desi is local. Par is short for paraya. So pardesi is local of some other place or foreign.

Desi Murgee vs farmee Murghee.
Desi Murgee = Indigenous Chicken
Farmee Murghee = The genetically engineered Chicken that takes 6 weeks to grow to full size.
