I’m with Edward Norton. He’s a brilliant actor, but never seems to get the recognition he deserves. I cannot criticise his performance in a single film. He really gets into his roles and plays them so well.
Yes that boy Norton was a good turn in 'American history X', but he peaked in 'Death to Smoochy' early in his career (see below).

For me it has to be Benicio del Toro, his few minutes in 'The Pledge' and many in 'Traffic' were jewels.
I dunno ... 25th hour was the last film I saw of his, and I think that was one of his best performances. * The * best would probably be American History X.
Benicio is pretty underated aswell ... he got more credit for Unusual Suspects than he has for any of his other films, but I think the Unusal Suspects is probably one of his wakest performances ... he improves with every film he does.
So you enjoyed Death to smoochy then :D, you nomark. 25th hour was predictable and plodding, the storyline had been done to death by better people.
Benny is always great, I only liked snatch coz of his bit part.
I've not seen death to smoochy so I cant really comment on it .. I like Robin Williams aswell so I might give it a go.
25th Hour was a very average storyline by a very average director, but Norton's acting totally saved that film for me. He played his role extremely well, and the expressionism used in that FU speech was simply riveting.
Benitio's best performance is in that film (can’t remember what it’s called) he did with Sean Penn not too long ago ... where he's a recovering alcoholic that kills some woman's family. Yeh he was really good in that.
Nah 25th hour was hum drum more of the same all round. I watched it on the recommendation of someone and didn't enjoy it.
You must really watch Norton in Death to smoochy though and del torro in big top pee wee, riveting stuff.
Are you taking the piss Mr Thap? ![]()
maybe a little pee wee but no piss.
I think the most under-rated actor this guy here - Barney.

Norton is good, I swear. So what if his choice of film has been questionable in the past ![]()
Samael, Barney is fab and everything but he’s always been given full credit for his projects. This thread is about performers that aren’t properly recognised.
I understand the meaning of this thread. Barney has been apreciated by kids but not fully by adults. So he is kinda under-rated.
PS: It was a joke. I was being sarcastic in my previous post. ;)
You know I never understood the nuances in Barney’s work, his deft minimalist approach to the whole acting genre I’m sure is inspirational to many but a little abstract for my crude appreciation of the art of filmmaking.
I look forward to his collaboration with other misunderstood and indeed underrated giants of the field such as Big Bird and Gonzo from the muppets.
I don't think Edward Norton is at all underrated. May be in your neck of the woods he is but here in the US of A, he is very much acknowledged and appreciated. Robert DeNiro in one of his interviews on National Broadcasting Corporation said that Edward Norton is the best young actor in Holywood. His role in 'Primal Fear' was proof enough that he is a great actor.

Underrated actors don’t really come to mind right now. I do agree with Sobi though. Norton is an excellent actor. Some of his best performances can be seen in:
The People Vs Larry Flynt
American history x
25th Hour
The Score
Fight Club
I want to point out some overrated “disgrace to acting” ass wipes that I cannot stand.
George Clooney
Van Damme
Dolph Lundgren
Wesley Snipes
Martin Lawrence
Steven Seagal (Although people say I look like him)
Tom green
Kurt Russel
Funguy, yeh he’s definitely not given the ackowledgement he deserves in Britain. The Brtish are too stuck up Hugh Grant/Pierce Brosnan’s ass to recognise real talent.
Thapo, stop that already ![]()
Tekno, most of the people on your list aren’t overated as such, everyone knows they’re crap!
Cheers *ucking cheers!
You know what he decided to star in after making the score and before he embarked on the 25th Hour?
yup you guessed it…

OK, stop that right now or I’ll post up a pic of Bernicio imitating Michael Jackson in his thriller days ![]()
Yeah but that movie that I won't mention was made in 2002!? underrated my arse, underfur more like.
