Re: Who’s the Bride???
Actually I didn’t have any of the fears or stresses that most brides-to-be have been discussing here.
Here is what I stressed about at my wedding:
-
making sure that there were enough funds to afford things without putting a burden on anyone.
-
making sure that my mother was well and not worried about anything.
-
moving away from my family after the wedding.
I didn’t
- pick the DJ or any of the music
- pick my outfit except to insist that the outfit not be red
- pick my jewellery or have any say in what it would be like (I saw it for the first time at the mehndi, the day before my wedding.)
- have mehndi done professionally (my friend put it on 2 hours before the wedding reception)
- have my make-up done professionally (did it myself)
- have my hair done professionally (did it myself and had the hair-dryer break down in the middle so I had to use my niece’s Fisher Price fan to dry.)
And that’s just a small list.
And no, the comment was not meant to be patronizing. It was to recognize all the married gals that are agreeing with my view.
