Technically he should not be an Ummate of Hazrat Muhammad (p.b.u.h), however there is a catch. These people refuse to accept that Hazrat Muhammad may have said many of the things being reported by the compilers. They say that so many generations had passed between saying of the words by the prophet and writing of Ahadith. It is their view point and you can call them skeptics of presently compiled books of Ahadiths. The objection is scholarly in nature and cannot be used to ascertain somebody as a muslim or a non muslim.
