Whom do you think was the best ruler of Pakistan?

Re: Whom do you think was the best ruler of Pakistan, yet.

The pro-Ayub view is because it's been downhill ever since. His rule was the last time the economy was healthy, religious tensions absent, the country not beset by separatist movements anywhere.

Re: Whom do you think was the best ruler of Pakistan, yet.

r u serious ????

ask those poor innocent who were sold just to please high ups

Re: Whom do you think was the best ruler of Pakistan, yet.

When he ordered hanging of Maulana Maududi in 1958, created false agar tala case against Shaikh Mujib which paved way for break up, started meaningless war of 1965 which brought the country's economy down the gutter during peak of his rule, rigged 1964 elections, most probably involved in poisoning Fatima Jinah to death, last but not the least he was father founder of corrupting military and bureaucracy of Pakistan.

Re: Whom do you think was the best ruler of Pakistan, yet.

everyone had their flaws and mistakes!

I would say Benazir Bhutto and Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto!

Re: Whom do you think was the best ruler of Pakistan, yet.

Since childhood I have seen Ayub Khan as first president and followed by others. I guarentee you, with all his draw backs, Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto was the best PM of Pakistan. Pakistan had never produced politician of his caliber nor it will produce in future either. He was Icon of Pakistan, BB was nothing as compared to him. Every tom, dick and harry is now copying his style but never ever come near to dust of his shoes.

The hatred is only due to jealousy because none ever compete with his vision and style of politics. His nationalization policy was criticized by many here, but the job opportunities and trickle down affect created during his tenure, Pakistan would never see such prosperity and happiness among masses. Pakistan definitely miss such superb politician. It is unfortunate that Pakistan lost him and there after none ever brought the dignity and self esteem back to Pakistanis.

According to my parents Khwaja Nazimuddin and Hussainn Shaheed Suharwardi were the best among all before Ayub Khan. In later times Mohammad Khan Junejo was the best among current politicians though selected by Zia-ul-Haq and kicked out by Ziaul-Haq in Ojhrhi Camp affair.

Re: Whom do you think was the best ruler of Pakistan, yet.

Actually ZAB was the only elected one who ruled before him and after him only compromises with army or army rule.

Re: Whom do you think was the best ruler of Pakistan, yet.

If we consider development in the country Ayub would be the best bet, but the blunders he made was the BD system or the way he abolished the provinces which caused frictions between East and West Pakistan and ultimately lead to the division of the country.

For some people Bhutto would be the best leader, but his biggest blunder was nationalizing the industries.

Its really difficult to choose the best, as the packages we have got all have had their pros and cons.

Re: Whom do you think was the best ruler of Pakistan, yet.

All of them were worse of the worse . . . I wish they all burn in hell .

and mind you none of them is 'shaheed' . . . sarray choor ka putter . May Allah take our revenge from them . InshaAllah .

Re: Whom do you think was the best ruler of Pakistan, yet.

Weird that during army rule the economy has always grown massively. Ayub's rule was good for the economy, Zia's rule was amazing for the economy and so was Musharraf's. Aid from America can be credited towards the expansion of the economy during army rule. I would still rate Musharraf among all others. He came in when Pakistan was economically destroyed. Karz utaro mulq sanwaro clearly wasn't working. I still remember hearing that KSE has performed the best among the world in 2002.Pakistan was changing and prospering. What was the telecom industry before Musharraf came in? The media industry grew massively. His privatization of many industries was a great step. Pakistan was bolstered by Foreign Investment. Pakistan was actually making progress. What have we come to now? We are a pathetic state now compared to Musharraf's rule.
Pakistan's poverty which was at 40+% (thanks to mohtarma and ganja) lessened to around 17% by 2007. Pakistan was en route to become a huge market but alas all good things must come to an end. Musharraf took Pakistan out of the least developed countries list (lowest of the low). I hear were back in that list (thanks to Pee Pee Pee) according to 2011 HDI list. No wonder why were fighting to get that GSP + from EU, only the poorest of the poor are allowed to get that.

Musharraf had long term plans for Pakistan, he made some mistakes but he definitely stands out among the past leaders.

Remain on topic!

Re: Whom do you think was the best ruler of Pakistan, yet.

I can really understand why you feel that Musharaf's rule was good as i can agree with all of those points except the 17% poverty under his rule. That is a total lie. You could also add that:-

  1. We are in such a bad state because of the global recession and not necessarily because of Zardari's policies. The price of goods for example started to increase under Musharaf's rule. The only thing that actually became cheaper was technology but you cannot eat internet packages and dvd players can you?

  2. All the progress in Karachi was destroyed because of Musharaf and his ego. May 12 is something that Musharaf needs to answer for. It was clear that the terrorist MQM had used Mush's rule to bolster their power. The Government has very little control over Karachi even today.

  3. The killing of Nawab Akbar Bugti alienated the Baloch and most Baloch I know want total indepenence. Musharaf needs to be put on trial for this.

  4. Militancy in Khyber pakhtunkhwa and the adjoining tribal areas grew and were allowed to fester under Musaraf but he was more interested in persecuting liberals, lawyers who opposed his sacking of the CJ.

  5. Musharaf consolidated the sale of Pakistan to the US-led West.

  6. Mushraf decided to make deals with the same corrupt thieves rather than start a fresh.

  7. The death of Benazir, the most high profile loss under the War of Terror happened under his rule.

  8. OBL managed to get across the border and into Abbottabad most likely under Musharaf's rule.

He did have quite good policies from 1999-2006 as Pakistan did improve under him in many ways. At the same the rot started under him too and he was more interested in keeping power than saving the country.

2007 has been the worst year for Pakistan since in its brief history.

Re: Whom do you think was the best ruler of Pakistan, yet.

exactly himalaya.things started to get worse under his rule..we are paying the price of his shortsighted policies......hes answerable to ppl of pakistan...he needs to be put on trial.

Re: Whom do you think was the best ruler of Pakistan, yet.

The beauty of this entire discussion like all Pakistani discussions on politics is that it is devoid of the facts and reality. None of these leaders stood the test of time let alone stood the test of elections. All of them sucked. Each and everyone of them stole the seat of the leader of this nation. Nobody came in fairly or honorably. So why are we choosing who is the best among a bunch of crooks.

Re: Whom do you think was the best ruler of Pakistan, yet.

^^
Poverty level in Pakistan got reduced to 17.2 percent for fiscal year 2007-08 according to world bank report. Above figure is according to world bank report. Source for above graph:

Re: Whom do you think was the best ruler of Pakistan, yet.

Yes, Mushi uncle is the responsible for bringing Pakistan in line of the fire. He came to rectify errors of the corrupts and left after making deals with the same. He gave us the slogan 'Sab se pehle Pakistan' and now we know it was all about exploiting Pakistan first.

Re: Whom do you think was the best ruler of Pakistan, yet.

I dont know from where these figures have come from, working in a respectable company at a respected company my salary jumped from Rs 25000 to 40000 during Mush’s time but in reality my salary had reduced from around USD 500 to less than USD 400. The middle class were hit really bad during that time, and the trend has continued.
