Who would've thought? III

That Musharraf would make such a bad situation so worse?

Re: Who would've thought? III

Very relevant saying:

Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely

Re: Who would've thought? III

I totally agree, look what it did to ZAB and BB :)

Re: Who would've thought? III

It's a fundamental axiom in Political Science

Re: Who would've thought? III

not true in all cases though :)

Re: Who would've thought? III

abay chal bay BB was corrupt even before she had any real power.

HAHAHA

Re: Who would've thought? III

Inherent and fundamental flaw in ur little observation: BB never really was in absolute power. ZAB was. But his main falling wasn't corruption.

On the other hand, does the Caesar have absolute power?

Re: Who would've thought? III

absolute power na hotay huay uss nay mulk ka yeh haal kar diya???
...wow.

I am glad she did not join the military

warna absolute power mein toh shayad woh pakistan baich baach kar bant boont kar kha jati

and ZAB mein falling was not corruption it was ego and power mongering

Re: Who would’ve thought? III

Oops, another inconvenient fact for little Aalsi :cb:

Re: Who would've thought? III

My point was not whether she was corrupt or not. I only pointed out the fallacy of his argument that BB and NS were corrupt because they had absolute power.

In absolute numbers, however, I dont think Musharraf and his govt. has been any less dishonest. Its just that the economic pie has grown so large now that if Mush takes out a million, thats a rounding up error. If BB did the same, we would go bankrupt.

Re: Who would've thought? III

LOL.

Bring back BB. Pakistan needs and deserves her. :D

Re: Who would've thought? III

Baychari. Let's make excuse for her and blame Zardari instead. Let's give her another chance. Pakistan needs and deserves her. :)

Re: Who would've thought? III

Read ur history my friend. Especially read Army's role during her tenures.

Re: Who would’ve thought? III

Bhaijan, you are right. During her tenure she did not have the moral capacity to speak up if she felt she was not being allowed to do her job. But once out of power she has all the morals back and all of a sudden realises what Zardari and Army were doing.

Bring BB back again. Paksitan needs and deserves a strong leader like her. :jhanda:

Re: Who would've thought? III

baat ko ghumaain nahi sarkaar. I did not mention moral capacity. :)

Re: Who would've thought? III

sure, i did not miss your point, I just added that even if she did not have absolute power she abused whatever power she did have.

now as far as musharraf and govt go. I have not seen any credible issue about his personal corruption. nothing like SGS, arms kickbacks, surrey palace type of issues that BB has been charged with. there is corruption in the govt though, ruling party and opposition alike. although the TI survey that gauged pakistanis views on corruption did note that ppl thought the current regime was significantly cleaner than the previous ones.
