Re: Who would you vote for in the upcoming Pakistan's elections
merc2 slight problem with your choices. Mush is going to stand for the post of president while the other 3 are going to be for PM's post. from the 3 candidates for PM post my vote would go to Imran.
Re: Who would you vote for in the upcoming Pakistan's elections
^sheeda isnt one of the choices. but imran khan has my vote for the same reason sheeda has it :)
Re: Who would you vote for in the upcoming Pakistan's elections
i dont think any elected representatives have much of a performance, given the impotence of pakistan's legislative bodies.
Re: Who would you vote for in the upcoming Pakistan's elections
anyone know anything about Imran's performance as a an elected representative?
A few months ago I was ready to vote for him, right now his attitude towards the lal masjid terrorists has been very disappointing
yes i agree
i feel if he is elected, he won't crack down on these extremists

Re: Who would you vote for in the upcoming Pakistan's elections
^dunno where one would find such a voting record. but it would make interesting reading.
Re: Who would you vote for in the upcoming Pakistan's elections
BB just cuz she is taking a clear stand against the terrorists. Her party can actually claim voting on principles when it backed Mush on Woman's rights bill, even when sitting in opposition. Also, Shery, Raza Rabbani, Aitezaz, Farhatullah Babar, Babar Awan. All good lawmakers. Have been more active in parliament than most PML-N'ers.
Re: Who would you vote for in the upcoming Pakistan’s elections
Brother, I think you have a point here. We should do something for all those information to come out in public.
Best is to write to President and that is easy:
www.presidentofPakistan.gov.pk
and ask him to get that information available to public (for each and every MNAs). I believe that if few of us would write to President with reasons and arguments it would work.
Re: Who would you vote for in the upcoming Pakistan's elections
Imran Khan would have been my choice, but I don't want to waste my vote!
I am going to vote for Nawaz.

I am going to vote for Nawaz.
Can you please find out that apart of growing some hair on his head, what this crook did to the billions he collected during his campaign of 'Qarz uttaro Mulk sawanro'?
I also contributed a bit and would like to know … so please can you find out from this crook where all those contribution gone?
It is because even during and after that campaign, Pakistan debt kept increasing during Nawaz in power plus nothing was there to show in Pakistan reserve too, neither that collections were mentioned anywhere in Pakistan finances ... no one even know the exact figures what was collected.

Re: Who would you vote for in the upcoming Pakistan’s elections
Why you want your money back? I’m sure he used it to buy haircare products. How else do you think he is growing thick black hair again?

BTW, I will never vote for any of these people. They’re all crooks. That is why I’m voting for Hilary Clinton. She will become defacto president of Pakistan (like Bush is now).
Re: Who would you vote for in the upcoming Pakistan's elections
^We had the distinction of having the first woman PM of Muslim world, now we'll have the distinction of having the first woman President of Muslim World.
Re: Who would you vote for in the upcoming Pakistan's elections
Pervez Musharraf.........he is the man
Re: Who would you vote for in the upcoming Pakistan’s elections
Brother! Yea ‘Nawaz’ maha crook hay, iss nay jou chuna lagayea hay tou takleef tou ho gee :).
This man can bite anyone that give him a hand. This crook did not even spared King of Saudia who got him out of Pakistani jail and gave him a palace to live in Saudi Arabia. … … King gave him a plot in Saudia at nominal price of 5 million riyals to put a steel mill there. Plot was more or less a gift from Saudi King … given to him at substantially reduced price … but this crook is used to doing that in Pakistan, getting government plots allotted to himself in Pakistan at substantially reduced price and selling them for profit … hence this crook sold that plot for 75 million riyals (making dead 70 million riyals profit) and than showed 2 fingers to Saudi host and their guarantee they gave to Pakistan.
Well, he is used to putting chuna on Pakistanis but after putting chuna on Saudis, he got taste of that. Thus, when a TV presentor asked him that if he would go back to Saudia, he said with crooked smile that … Saudia tou her Pakistani ka dusraa ghaar hay …. May wahaan kewn nahie jayoon gaa … Actually it seems that he is thinking ways to put some more chuna on Saudi government again. Though Saudis are bitten by him and seems they are now wary of him. That is why they let Pakistan show the document in public, though it was suppose to be secret document … agreement between Pakistan and Saudia …
Now after the agreement became public everyone realised that how big a liar this person Nawaz is … though even before agreement became public people knew that he is lying, still some that have little intelligence to think were considering that he is telling truth, and few were giving him benefit of dioubt (however illogical).
[Well, what I know, the agreement was result of Saudi blackmailing Pakistan for the release of this crook (under the influence of USA and President Clinton … who use to consider Nawaz his peon), as at that time (December 2000) Pakistan economy was trying to recover and Saudi Arabia was providing $500 million oil on differed payment, so they threatened to stop that facility as well as (probably) deport Pakistani workers from Saudia, thus for sake of Pakistani economy, Musharraf agreed to their blackmailing demand. When Pakistan reserve reached to certain level, Saudi Arabia stopped that facility].
You should know that Saudi Kings are feeling the pinch too, and got so upset after being made fool by Nawaz that when Nawaz was in London, they got whole his family thrown out of palace they gave him and his family to live.

Sharifs let the guarantor down: Musharraf
Saturday, August 25, 2007
By Umar Cheema
ISLAMABAD: President Gen Pervez Musharraf has told his aides that Nawaz Sharif’s petition has brought huge embarrassment for the ‘guarantor’ and said he feels sorry for the brotherly country.
Chairing a meeting to discuss the situation against the backdrop of the Supreme Court’s decision allowing the Sharif brothers to return to the country, Musharraf said: “We will respect this court order as well in a manner we did on the previous order (that restored the Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry).”
But the Sharifs backing out from commitment has brought embarrassment for the ‘guarantor’, he added.
A participant of the meeting told The News that Musharraf made it clear that no hurdle would be created in the Sharifs’ return and the court order would be implemented in letter and spirit.
According to the source, the official reaction on the court order was relayed after getting approval from President Musharraf.
Giving reference of that meeting held on night, two hour after the apex court verdict, he said the Information Minister Muhammad Ali Durrani went to Musharraf for the approval of the official reaction. It was sentto press after Musharraf’s approval.
The source denied the impression that Dr Sher Afgan’s contemptuous reaction to the court order was a deliberate attempt on part of the government.
“Nothing like this was discussed in the meeting,” the source said.
About Musharraf’s opinion that Sharifs’ petition had maligned the ‘guarantor’, the source claimed that their decision to go to the court was not in conformity with the wishes of the ‘guarantor’.
Responding to a question, the source said the ‘guarantor’ had nothing to do with the Sharifs’ bid for return. "Nor was it the responsibility of the ‘guarantor’ to push them for not doing this.”
The source said the ‘guarantor’ had refused to take the responsibility anymore since the Sharifs were allowed to move to London from Saudi Arabia with the approval of the Musharraf government in early 2006.
Endorsing a media report emanating from Riyadh that the ‘guarantor’ was unhappy with the Sharif brothers, the source said.
There were a number of contentious issues that eroded the confidence of the host and it dated back to Shahbaz Sharif’s bid to return when he had tried to land at Lahore airport.
“The Saudi leadership had been expressing dismay over Sharif’s conduct while they were in Saudi Arabia. Shahbaz Sharif’s attempt to land in Lahore did not serve to improve their relations with the benefactors,” a media report filed from Riyadh said.
“The Saudis rarely display their diplomatic displeasure in public. And, therefore, people here were surprised when members of the Sharif family, including Abbas and the mother of Nawaz and Shahbaz, were asked to vacate, at a very short notice, the Suroor Palace where the Sharifs had been staying since their arrival in Saudi Arabia,” the media report further said.
“There have been reports that Mian Nawaz Sharif was perturbed by the displeasure of Saudi administration and tried to take steps to mend ties with his erstwhile hosts. His close lieutenant, Saifur Rehman, is said to have been moving around to get the relationship back on track, apparently without much success,” the report further said.
“Sharif’s decision to sell the land allotted to them by none else than King Abdullah himself for setting up a steel plant near Makkah may also have not gone well with the royal family. Sharifs had sold the land at a high price to a major local business group which, incidentally also bid for Pakistan Steel Mills,” the report said.
**“Sources in the group maintain that they had paid a hefty amount of Saudi Riyal 75 million to the Sharifs as the price for the prime land,” it said. **
**“The Sharifs had reportedly paid just SR5 million to the Saudi government as token price for the land. This may also have irritated the royals here,” the report said. **
“Reports of serious disappointment of the Saudi leadership with Sharifs have been doing rounds here for sometime,” it said.
When sources close to the Sharif family were contacted, they denied the allegation of selling any land in Makkah.
