^thats right. Seems kinda weird thing to do. But then again if the family tradition is that the elders sit upfront I guess she must have felt "stepped" upon .. even though I find it weird lolz

Yah, to actually confront her about something so little is shocking. My PILs on the other hand insist I sit in the front, even when I automatically go to the back. I'm also very petite and FIL is tall, so I figured he would be more comfortable, but he doesn't normally let me sit in the back if hubby is driving.

^I find that to be the best option too .. you know wifey next when hubby is driving .. but some people just put too much into these things and when they do I think one should go with the follow instead of creating a fuss abt it. There are/will be bigger issues to handle hehe

ok so its just the front seat thats bothering you?.. how about u drop something like a soda can or something in the front seat or perhaps paste a chewing gum there...and nobody gets to sit in the front seat?..

These are really small issues.. dont even care about these things... do you not get enough time with your husband at home , or somewhere else?.. if so, then its all cool... sooner or later ur MIL will understand.. sometimes what happens is MIL just cant see his son's love being divided in two..which is fine..its normal.. she'll get it sooner or later....so chillax..

Does it really matter where you sit? If it would help you feel more appreciated then speak to your husband and tell him that you want to sit in front and that maybe you 2 can go somewhere without your MIL.

Try kicking the front seat from the back continuously, she might get annoyed and let you sit in the front the next time!

If the parent’s in law had any courtesy they would at least offer the girl to sit with her husband, who knows she may have even declined herself out of respect. Its probably cos the MIL makes it a point to sit in front without even acknowledging the DIL that she is upset about the whole thing. Along with many other twisted weirdo customs in Pakistan I think sitting in the front seat is some sort of priviledge which is why the MIL cannot even think about letting the DIL sit in front, iski itni himmat! Nazoo u learn to drive the car yourself and then whenever u guys go out u drive and we see if she still sits in the front or offers the seat to your husband Its so horrible of her to never allow the two of you to go out together by yourselves if that infact is true. And to ask you to get out is even worse, is she 5 or 50?
Unfortunately Nazoo, looks like you are going to have to live with it though. Your husband lacks the courage to say anything to his mum, ur MIL is never going to let you on that front seat and probably always tag along with the two of you. Actually tell ur MIL that u r grateful to her for sitting in the front, this way u can sit at the back in peace without the sun burning ur skin thru the winshield, heh.

Great idea. Say something about dark skin. That will really freak her out.
