And what are you doing to whiten them?
I am hearing all sorts of different things like baking soda and lemon juice, banana peels, coconut oil, etc.

Re: Who whitens their teeth here?
Crest White Strips (advanced ones) for keeping my teeth white. I only do this once a year. Also, I heard about coconut oil as well but I also hear that this can ruin dental work if you have any.
Re: Who whitens their teeth here?
Baking soda/water pastes do work. They've been used for a long time. You just have to be careful about only using it once a week, or once every two weeks.
Re: Who whitens their teeth here?
Really? I am thinking of trying the coconut oil before I go for the strips. I feel like maybe the baking soda would be too harsh, no?
Re: Who whitens their teeth here?
Baking soda can be harsh, especially if you have sensitive gums, hence the limited use (once every few weeks). White strips will obviously work. I've never heard of coconut oil being used.

If you want maybe a shade or two lighter, strips may work but for higher shade diff, you need to get it done professionally. It's not that expensive anymore. About $300 or so.
Btw, strips have nothing but hydrogen peroxide. If you can get a bottle of high concentration hydrogen peroxide (that girls in Pakistan use to bleach hair :D) you can use that to rub on your teeth and don't spit. That will do the trick
Re: Who whitens their teeth here?
I use baking soda and don't find it irritating.
Crest whitestrips also work great BUT they make your teeth super sensitive. :(

Hydrogen peroxide? The kind we use for cuts and stuff at home?

Ditto, that's why I start using Sensodine the month prior to starting the strips because it helps "prep" the teeth. I don't get sensitivity since I started doing that. I would recommend that for any form of whitening, be it baking soda or Hydrogen Peroxide.
And Reha, that's the same Hydrogen Peroxide. You can add a drop to your toothpaste or make a paste by mixing in a bit of baking soda.

Yes, but one available at pharmacies in usa is only 0.3% strong, it's pretty diluted. You need a little more concentrated than that

I did that too....lol. That helped my husband but for my teeth, the whitestrips still made them super sensitive. :( But I don't have this issue with baking soda.
Re: Who whitens their teeth here?
I use the Crest strips (the stronger version).. I don't like the taste of baking soda :(
Re: Who whitens their teeth here?
I used Crest before my wedding and do a touch up every year. They were quite strong ones (2x a day for 2 weeks) and I had read a lot about the sensitivity issues. So I just spaced out the usage. I'd only use one set a day and with at least a day gap between if not more. So I dragged it out to about 5 weeks (had some left over). Same results, just took a bit longer and without my teeth becoming sensitive.
Re: Who whitens their teeth here?
I had the Britesmile program done at the dentist’s office and I will say yes, the “zingers” hurt! I was supposed to take Advil 2 hours in advance, but they forgot to tell me. It took 2-3 hours and my teeth were senstive for a few days. The only other restriction was no coloured foods for 48-72 hours.
But, it was worth it ![]()
