Thank you everyone for replying. I, unfortunately, had never heard of him before he passed. I still don’t know enough to pass any sort of judgment or conclusion of what I think.

One should avoid passing judgements. But at the same time, scholars like Imam Al-Nawawi have highlighted that it is necessary to tell people to avoid those who are misguided so that they do not become misguided. Try searching for the “sheikh” and you will discover what has been said about him.

Regarding capitalizations, I have personally never used caps for any pronoun other than when speaking of Allah (swt). I’m not sure if there are any “set” rules behind it… but I avoid using caps for “him/ he” when speaking of The Prophet (saw) to avoid confusing him (saw) with Allah (swt).

No one comes close to Allah in any way whatsoever whether in Adab or anything else.

I did do a quick look through the Quran (translation) and even online, when speaking about The Prophet (saw), even “you” is lower cased.

It isn’t supposed to be.

“We have not sent you (O Muhammad) but as a universal (Messenger) to men giving them glad tidings and warning them (against sin) but most men understand not.” (Quran: 34/28)

In my opinion, it all goes back to intention. Respect is subjective. I respect The Prophet (saw) and I respect Allah (swt), but I don’t think my respect for them is on the same level. I do differentiate between them, as I firmly believe we should.

There is no comparison. One is God the other a Messenger and slave of Allah as you recite that ever time in your prayer. The word 'abd means slave.

On that note, I wouldn’t ever hold anyone else, alive or not, to the same level as The Prophet (saw), let alone the level of Allah (swt).

The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) is the BEST among the creation. No one comes close to him (peace be upon him). But no one with a sane mind compares him (peace be upon him) to Allah, the Exalted.

But, at the same time, everyone is entitled to their own opinions and beliefs.
