My Dad if of the old style, that anyone that comes to your house for whatever reason should not go without some chai/pani even if its plumber coming to fix something.

I am from that old school too but I do not insist , I just make them an offer. If it is accepted they get treated if they decline , it is their loss not mine.

Yes everyone gets a treat at our house..............most do not turn it down...:)

yes my mom makes sure they have some snacks n' chai - if it's around that time... and dinner or lunch if the "strangers" are still around at that time.
I think it's really great hospitality. I have picked up some of that from my mom... but I get scared of the food prepared by me, if it is good enough or not... i'm not an expert in cooking - u see :(

My mother is guilty of this...she actually invited them in for chai.
I shooed them off when I came home...lol.

yeap... i do the same. If its like a lunch time or dinner time visit, i prepare a proper menu..

yupo same here, diff between me & parents is I offer, but parents insist. Sometimes I bet the other people dont really want tea...but after parents insist they say yes.
OMG this is so like my dad, He will keep on insisting until other person say yes, and he will make sure the guest have all the snakes, ice cream and whatever is there in the fridge
