My mom does the same, she nags our maid to offer chai/soda's to everyone.. I remember as a kid my Maulvi Sahab loved the chai and snacks at our house... and I didn't like him pouring the tea into the saucer n sipping it! (not a pretty sight)

I always offer tea, coffee, soda, ice water to any worker who comes to my house....I dont insist that they sit and chat...heck they'd charge me for that time lol! For the big jobs that we had done on our house, we always provided lunch for the workers too. Because really even though it costs an arm and a leg to get a new roof or new siding, these workers dont see that money, they make very little and they work their tails off. Its the least we can do to treat them with respect and thankfulness for the nice work that they do.

It's the same in our house. My mom/dad offer something to eat or drink to anyone who comes, be it plumber, electrician, or whatever... me and my siblings found it quite annoying when we were kids, but now we are the same way :)

Well most desis offers guest tea/biscuit snacks even before they have stepped in the house :@:......
My Mom (she is normally @ hme most of the time) offers guests/workers or anyone who normally comes to our house, something to eat.... snacks, dinner, lunch, chai, drink nd list goes on..... And actually i am the same :)
