lol the reason why i didn't put Kaneria's name, cuz i think indian batsmen are the best spin bowling players.. but fine, add him.. i think afridi will be more successful cuz of his variety in varyin pace...

Asim is a must in our test team. He could be our WALL and he has proved that couple of times when we had very bad collapse.

Denish Kenaria will be a must. I will not play Razzaq in test team.

Why not? If Dravid's below par keeping can go with India why can't Taufeeq and Younis for us?

If Younis and Taufeeq both playing then they can split the load. May be Taufeeq for spinners is a better choice than Younis. Team's overall productivity will be increased. With Asim and Younis both playing the chances of collapse are minimal, IMO. The both will be like the safeguard for the middle order Yoyo and Inzi. Its a good combination and I can risk a wicket keeper for six solid batsmen. Remember India has an oridinary attack and with mental strength that team has gained in last week of Austrailian tour, they can put up 400+ in both innings against India anyday. Then we have very consistant and determined bowling in Rana, Afridi, Denish, Rao and Actor/Sami. Plus Both Taufeeq and Younis can bowl too, provided one is keeping the wicket. That gives us the sixth and in Inzi the seventh bowler for test. That takes off the burden from the fasties which means less injuries for a long tour.

Bro you are saying Test matches, Dravid keeps wickets in ODIs!!!
you said you can risk a W-keeper against the line up that India currently has!!! can you imagine a mis-stumping of Tendulkar or Dravid because of make shift keeper in the Test match :eek:

You want a good mix of batsman and bowlers you can still have it, top 5/6 should perform! its simple as that.

I'm not in favor of using a p-t keeper... Akmal needs to improve his keeping as well as batting and we know that, but we also know that he has potential in keeping (better than Younis), so why do we give up on someone so easily? - we have to nurture talent in order to develop longer term prospects. Short term "point solutions" do not add any value to the team's strength.

For tests, simple rule. 6 batsmen, 4 bowlers and 1 wicket-keeper. Our six batsmen should be

  1. Butt
  2. Taufeeq
  3. Inzimam
  4. Youhanna
  5. Asim Kamal
  6. Younis

Bowlers

  1. Rana
  2. Akhtar/Rao/Khalil
  3. Kaneria/Some other spinner
  4. Razzaq/Azhar/Afridi

Keeper
Kamran

I will play Rao for Razzaq in test. Razzaq is no more a test player. And Azhar should retire from both ODI and Tests, he should play street cricket with tape ball. If its not for Afridi as second spinner (in India's case as they considered very good batsmen of spin bowling) then Rao is a good prospect.

Ah!!! Shabbir and Gul....we miss you guys.

That seems a very reasonable total. But we really need back ups to bowling, so Paksitan would be taking 4 specialist bowlers.. Rao,Sami,Rana, Shoaib/Shabbir can do the job, and then part time Afridi can do a lil bit more.

Afridi needs a serious try in test again.

I dont get the point, why do many guys think that Gul was some big exception. only coz of his one match heroics..
Dont you know that there are chances that he may not be able to PLAY AT ALL in his life now. His stress fractures have turned into serious FRACTURES. lets hope that Shabir gets fit, but again he aint any probable for INDIA now.. coz after such a long period of injury, he needs to work hard to bowling stage.

Afridi could be a ‘trump’ ahead of Kaneria for his ‘Slidders and quickies’ ahead of rival Kumble.

Kaneria is in danger of facing the same faith of what ‘Joshi’ or ‘cheetan Sharma’ had in Pakistan.

I might have liked him if he had a little ‘pace’ to his deliveries and not the ‘toss-up’ action

You never know : First time ever Indian sighting Pak weakness in pace attack might opt for faster wickets aiding Pathan/Zaheer/Balaji & co. and a burial turf for Paki spin at the same time. :smiley:

Rao
Irshad/Sami
Danish Kaneria
If Shoaib Akhtar is to be included then we will need an all rounder in the team to make up for Shoaib's lack of stamina/fitness.
