…taught you how to apply make up? An older sister? aunty? mum? friend? or did you just figure it out yourself?
Myself, I don’t wear make up, have literally worn it only about 4 times in my life lol. Same for my sisters, who are both older than me. Mum has never worn any either lol. So me and my sisters just never really got in to it. Am a little interested now, in just knowing how to at least apply it, but am planning to figure it out myself by watching a few you tube tutorials. Eventually. lol.
never worn much makeup either.. just some kohl or liner nd lipbalm. But now i have starting looking into foundations just at those areas i feel i need to have on and some cream blush. But to be honest, i hate having it on lol. i guess it because im not used to it,, so i just wear it on special occasions
Myself...picked up some tips here and there from some threads here, makeup artists when I get my makeup professionally done (like 5 times in my life!) etc
I don't really know how to do my make-up either... and I want to learn. But I feel like I don't know where to find out what the basics are... I mean, there are a million tutorials that teach you how to do eye make-up, but what I don't get is stuff like foundation. When am I supposed to put it on? Am I allowed to put on eye-make-up without putting on foundation? And how exactly do I blend eye make-up? And I also feel like my questions are too stupid for me to actually ask someone, lol. So this post is actually a little frightening. Help please?
I knew less than nothing about make-up until I started modeling to pay for college. Then I learnt soooooo much. The makeup artists all so talented and happy to impart knowledge. I quickly went form a makeup newbie to a pro.
Greysanatomyfan - you put on foundation after you've washed and toned, and after your moisturizer (or a moisturizing primer if you prefer).
Depending on your skin type, you might be okay with putting on eye makeup before foundation. Also - it can depend on what type of eye make up. For example, if you are doing a smokey eye and your under eye concealer is a great match for your foundation, it might be a good idea to do the foundation after your eye make since this way, if you have any shadow etc that needs to be cleaned up, it's easier.
Really, your questions are not stupid at all. You should have heard some of the doozies I asked. (I didn't even know what foundation was since I was 16 and had never worn makeup).

Prime your face by cleansing, toning and moisturizing... then use a good primer.
Use a good concealer under-the-eyes, around the mouth and around the nose as these area's are a little darker.
Use u're foundation (stick for heavy coverage, fluid for medium to light) and blend really well with a blending brush.
Set with loose powder or pressed powder.
Apply an eye-primer and then a neutral eye-base (usually a creamy base) then top it off with u're eye-color. Start with a light color in the inner corner of u're eye..and then go 'darker' in the eye socket and blend inwards with a eye-shadow brush.
Line u're eyes..keep the line very fine at the inner corner of the eye and go slightly thicker towards the end. U may even flick the liner upwards..
Line the waterline with an eye-pencil (flesh colored, black, blue, white) or kajal.
Blend a little bit of the darker color u used in the eye-socket under the outer corner of u're bottom lashes.
Apply u're mascara
Apply u're blush according to u're face shape and contour accordingly (cheeks, nose, jawline)
Line u're lips and fill-in with matching lipstick (use a lip-brush)
My elder cousin used to apply make-up to me when I was like 2/3 years old. Wow, the embarassment she caused when I look at pictures of back then....I'm a guy btw.

Oh and Sazzie you don't need make-up! :p
Lol at your cousin! Ah i do prefer the natural look, but wouldnt mind experimenting a bit :)
I taught myself, and took tips from the many cousins/friends/etc as well until i knew what suited me. main tips are that you just need to practice until you like what you get!
i learnt how to put on the small things by experimenting on what technique worked best and what looked good, like eyeliner/blush/lippie/mascara.
BUT i still wanna learn eyeshadow/correct technique to apply foundation - i hate it when you can see it doesnt blend nicely. i brought concealer the other week - MAC and it's not to hard to apply - i just hope i'm getting it right :/
