Yes Shehrzad was good character, as she was narrator of the stories:)

mine is Sindbad Jahazi, though Sindbad of Alif Laila with Talwar-e-Sulemani was my favourite:D

Talwar e Sulemani? I heard that there was Sulemani topi and Sulemani Chadar that was property of Umro Ayyar - A character of Tilsm e Hoshruba.

The serial was production of Ramanand Sagar, it has his signature all over it, Sindbad and later Shezada Jalal Talib had this talwar, something in Arabic was written on it:), It was blessed sword, So whenever the hero character incites allah's blessing by calling "Ya Allah kar madad", lightenings used to come out of it, the person with this talwar was unbeatable:), it used to come at 2200 hrs, so as kids we used to remain awake on mondays:), it used to end at very crucial point so that people wait for next week for the story:)

I think Zee Tv also made a serial on Alif Laila, which is available on Youtube. Apart from these fictitious characters Abbasi ruler Haroon u Rashid and his Queen Zubaida have been portrayed as people having some supernatural properties in many of Alif Laila (Arabian Nights) stories :) Alif Laila was written during Haroon u Rashid time.

I don't like to watch Alif laila b'coz they pronounce it incorrect. Its Alf Laila.

Alf is arabic word which mean thousand and lail means night. Complete meaning is thousand nights.

Yeh Majnoo ki Laila yah punjabi Laila nahi hy. Yeh lail hy means 'night' / 'raat'.

Well there are many stories but all are in arabic and played by arabs. :)
