In our school book in class IV, it was mentioned that he was from samarqand:)

Samarqand is probably in Uzbekistan - one of the Muslim states that got freedom from Russia.I think Babar was also from that area, as he was fond of remembering fruits and water of Samarqand and Bukhara.

Yes Samarqand is in Uzbekistan and Uzbek look like Chinese. Is their any character in the book from sub continent?

I don't remember any character from sub-continent in the book, but I think there are reference to India (Hindustan) as a wealthy country. God knows, some rulers who attacked India, may did so after reading stories of Hindustani wealth in such stories :)
