I was viewing Cricket Ratings (www.cricketratings.com) and came to know that Murli is now number one in both format of games which makes him undisputable number 1 bowler these days.
Other spinner that came into my mind was Warne. Here is the comparison b/w these 2

Strike rate for Warne is better than Murli but look at other figures. Murli is also better than warne when it comes to bowling in different conditions and pitches. To me Murli for sure is better than Warne and infect Murli is the best spinner ever to grace the face of earth.
Who do you think is the best ever? Anyone other than these 2 worth considering for the best ever? and why?

I think you are comparing Murali's test record with Warne's ODI record. :p
Well said PakPathan1, if Murali is a cheat then so is Warne.
Atleast Murali doesn't chuck on purpose.
But talking about the best spinner ever, then no one comes close to Jim Laker.
The guy has the best bowling figures ever.
He took like 19 wickets in one match.
murali doesnt chuck on purpose, but he chucks still. i don rate him newhere because how he bowls is not compatible with the rules. Y shd others have to pay for his abnormality.
*Oh come on. Warne is the king(He might have had numerous off-the-field "incidents", but his ability as a cricketer is unquestionable). I used to laugh when people used to compare McGill to Warne; a joke really. Shane Warne is without a doubt the most talented spinner in cricket history. People, That Is All.*
P.S: I was watching the World Cup 1999 semi-final again, what a beauty Warne bowled to dismiss Gibbs! The guy is a genuine match-winner.
Warne is pure class...nothing beats Warne. His smooth action, standing over there for a good 2 mins, furstrating the batsman and then approaching the crease, and he has done it so many times for Australia in both ODI and tests.
Murli gets more turn cause of the way he delivers the ball....and thats just not right.

Totally Agreed.Plus Warne doest get to play 70% of his matches on dead wickets of Subcontinent unline the Jevelin Thrower.
ah come on people. Murali doesn’t chuck on purpose and ICC doesnt have a problem with his bowling. What can he do if he was born with it? As I see it, if ICC doesnt have a problem and is ready to accept him then so should we. So then going by the bowling figures (approved by the game’s governing body), Murali surely looks like the better of the two. But I personally still like warne much better.
For the future, i am keeping my fingers crossed for Danish kaneria.
I agree with Chthonicpowers. If ICC does not have problem with his bowling action than why should anyone else. I consider his action legitimate. Having said that I consider Warne the best spinner ever followed by Abdul Qadir.
Ian Botham was once asked "When do you realise Qadir has bowled a googly" and Botham replied "When the slip fielder has the ball in hsi hand."
Qadir was awesome and revived the art of leg spin. In the early 80's the terms flipper, chinaman, googly and others were never heard on the cricket field till Qadir came on the scene.
If the ICC, the governing body does not have a problem then no one else should.
They are professionals and throughly tested Murali, so if his action is legal then people need to get off his back and give credit where its due.
who is the best test spinner between Warnie and Muttiah? i think we will know by the end of Feb 2004 when Australia visits Sri Lanka - Warnie will make a his comeback - it will be good one!
