India support ICC to make its own decision on Hair
THE international career of Australian umpire Darrell Hair may be spared by the unlikeliest of sources - India. The Board of Control for Cricket in India was expected to side with Pakistan and refuse to play in matches in which Hair is officiating.
But in a surprise move, BCCI secretary Niranjan Shah told the Herald last night that his board did not “necessarily agree” with Pakistan’s sentiments and would abide by the International Cricket Council decision on Hair.
“We would never say no to any umpire that the ICC supported,” Shah said. “If the ICC is happy with [Hair], then we are happy. Let us see a report first, and if Mr Hair has made a mistake, then we will see what happens. But it is up to the ICC to take action.”
Should the BCCI adhere to this stance, both Hair and the ICC will have avoided a potentially explosive situation. Given that the ICC is desperate to avoid a repeat of The Oval fiasco, Hair is unlikely to umpire matches featuring Pakistan and Sri Lanka, both of whom have well-documented problems with the Australian umpire. Hair, who is not believed to be considering retirement, is also unable to preside over matches involving Australia.
“If the Asian bloc gangs up on him and says, ‘We don’t want him appointed in our games’, there might be trouble,” Dick French, a former umpire and Hair’s one-time mentor, told AAP. “He can’t umpire Australia as a neutral, so he can’t then just umpire South Africa, the West Indies and England for the rest of his career. So that’s a tough one for the authorities.”

Bangladesh backs Pakistan in ball tampering row
DHAKA, Aug 22 (Reuters) - Bangladesh became the latest Asian nation on Tuesday to pledge their support to the Pakistan cricket team following a ball tampering row which led to the fourth test against England to be forfeited.
Bangladesh Cricket Board president Ali Asghar said he had contacted his Pakistani counterpart Shaharyar Khan to express his backing on the issue.
“I told him (Shaharyar) that we are with Pakistan as they had supported us on many occasions,” Asghar told the reporters.
“I have gone through the whole incident and found nothing wrong in Pakistan’s reaction.”
On Sunday, umpires Darrell Hair of Australia and Billy Doctrove from West Indies decided that Pakistan had forfeited the match when they failed to take the field after the tea interval.
Pakistan were incensed that the umpires had decided they had been guilty of ball tampering, docking the team five runs, and staged a protest by staying in the dressing room for several minutes.
Pakistan captain Inzamam-ul-Haq was charged with ball tampering and bringing the game into disrepute and could be banned for eight one-day internationals or four tests if found guilty.
**The Sri Lankan cricket board have already given their backing to Pakistan.

Re: Who is supporting Pak: India decided to support ICC- BD, SL supporting PK
I have said it all along that Indians will never side with Pakistan because of the favour ICC gave them with schedule of next five years where Indians Aussies and English play eachother regularly while others play betwen themselves. Bigger teams mean bigger sponsorship deals bigger tv rights more money for ICC.
Re: Who is supporting Pak: India decided to support ICC- BD, SL supporting PK
While BCCI may have taken a staunch stance on siding with the ICC, a lot of Indian players seem to be supporting Inzamam... I just heard a brief clip with Kapil Dev and Sidhu and NDTV carried an exclusive where they showed both Sidhu and Dravid tampering the ball.
Re: Who is supporting Pak: India decided to support ICC- BD, SL supporting PK
^^
Alot of players would support Pakistan but in the end all that matters is the support which can influence ICC's decision in Inzi and Pakistan's favour. A united Asian block could have influenced ICC's decision, however I guess we cannot hope for that now.
Re: Who is supporting Pak: India decided to support ICC- BD, SL supporting PK
I feel sad at the statement made by BCCI on this issue. More than the unity of the asian boards, it's the injustice that has been done to Inzi which concerns me. If the Pakistani team is found guilty of tampering the ball then I support ICC with whatever action (probably stricter) they want to take against them (keeping in view the past tampering incidents involving Pakistan). But if they do not provide proof of their involvement with ball tampering then Hair should be fired and ICC owes an apology to Inzi.
I think it was premature on BCCI's part to take a stand on the issue.
Re: Who is supporting Pak: India decided to support ICC- BD, SL supporting PK
^ I agree with you, but BCCI probably sided with ICC as indicated above for the 5-year schedule demand from BCCI which ICC approved (I scratch your back and you scratch mine.... just like BD CB supporting PCB).
Re: Who is supporting Pak: India decided to support ICC- BD, SL supporting PK
Pakistan should win support from WI cricket board. Since Pakistan is not blaming Billy Doctrove despite his incompetent decisions. Additionally, Michael Holding was on the scene, V. Richard throw his support behind Pakistan, and traditionally Pak supported WI. Additionally, Pakistan should ask SA, and ECB for their support based on principles not based on favoritism. Since ECB saw closely especially if Pakistan is not guilty of ball tampering.
Pakistan can pressurise ECB and India by abondaning any future cricket ties if they don't support Pakistan in principles.

we shouldn't have 2 resort 2 that,.they have the truth staring them in their faces and they should be able 2 make an unbiased decision without pressure 4rm us,.

Yes...go ahead.... Like BCCI is waiting for Money from Empty Gaddafi Stadium stands... We know very well who will lose out here??
But frankly, BCCI should have supported Pak when it comes to Ball tempring issue. But when it comes to abandoning the game, I dont think any sane person will support it except Pakistan supporter who are emotionally charged these days.
Re: Who is supporting Pak: India decided to support ICC- BD, SL supporting PK
Are you denying the full stadiums when Pakistani team visits India? How much money is really generated from stadiums versus the money generated from media? Does India not get paid when India plays Pakistan?

Comment By Kapil dev
Former India captain and coach Kapil Dev lambasted umpire Darrell Hair for his handling of the controversial ball-tampering issue and said the ICC should penalise him if it takes action against Pakistan captain Inzamam-ul Haq.
Kapil, who had his share of problems with Hair during his stint as the India coach, also did not
spare Inzamam for refusing to take the field in the post-tea session after five runs were awarded to England for alleged ball-tampering by the Pakistan players.“If Inzamam has to be fined, and penalised, then you have to make sure that the umpire and the referee should also be penalised. Because you don’t clap with one hand,” he said.
Kapil was convinced that Inzamam would regret his decision to walk out of the match.
“You can say we are playing under protest, but you cannot say I do not want to play. I think that is where the management will have to play a role, or perhaps a match referee has to play a bigger role. I was disappointed that the match was called-off like that,” he was quoted as saying by NDTV.
Describing the ball-tampering row as the “biggest controversy of the century”, he said “everybody is responsible for this controversy…”
The former all-rounder said Hair always had problems with players from the subcontinent."He is a good umpire. He wants to teach his way of game which is ICC’s job. His umpiring is decent and no complaining. If he wants to teach how to play the game then he should retire as umpire and try to take the] game in a] different way.
“He always likes to enjoy the kick… fighting with the bigger players,” he added.
Re: Who is supporting Pak: India decided to support ICC- BD, SL supporting PK
You can thank the idiots at PCB for that...when the whole issue of future series came up, our prick in chief Shirtless Khan stated that we don't want to play too many matches with India...to which England and Australia said thank you very much, we have no problem playing Indian every year...
