do you accept it does not matter what you pray to right action
is more important than right prayer? if you dont study for the exam
but pray five times a day can you pass the exam?

On the other hand you may have studied very hard for the exam and fate (is always in Allah's control) has other plans; death, missing the exams due to accident or any other mishap.
As I said earlier, we don't put Allah (swt) to test - by appearing for exams without any studies and expect to know the answers! We study for the exams to best of our abilty and then pray for success.

"The Divine Decree or Will of Allah. This means that nothing happens without the permission or knowledge of Allah. Allah has knowledge of all and it is written with Him what is the fate of all, for He is fully aware of whatever is in the past, present and future. This is not to say that Allah makes all things occur, but that there is no action or deed which is hidden from The Creator and therefore, nothing happens without Allah allowing it to occur."
But then, the above concept is difficult for idol worshippers to accept as they have 'feed' and bath their own lifeless and 'stone silent' gods.

Of course, if the idol worshipper sees the folly of worshipping the lifeless idols he will stop worshipping them. Before Islam, except for the Jews, all the peoples of the world were idol worshippers. For whom Allah (swt) had willed, they saw the light of Islam and the folly of their own idol worshipping, stopped worshipping the idols.
