My mum and dad had a very, very small wedding. They had nikkah and valima, on the same day. It was in my dad’s house. They have 5 pics of the event. No video. Roughly 30 guests. They were supposed to get married and have a lavish wedding in Pakistan; everything was booked and what not but my daadi messed everything up:smack:
Mum wore a pink and green formal shalwar kameez and papa looked like a hero in his suit:cb:
However, 11 months later I was born:phati: I am sure I made up for it
On a more serious note, this matter upsets my papa more than mum. I think mum does not say anything. Oh well. Alhamdulilah after 22 years of marriage, May Allah bless my mum and papa with love, compassion, health and happiness. Aameen
my parents had a simple wedding, i think my mom even made roti at her own valima.. it was kinda sad..
my bro had a simple wedding too, they did a nikkah with family at home on one night and then had a small reception on the weekend.... family had planned a proper rukhsati in pakistan, but that never materialized...oh well :p
i've been to quiet a few simple weddings ( in my extended family)............where the only highlight was nikah , rukhsati and valima , menu was too simple and allhamdulillah those couples r as happy as those who had lavish wedding ceremonies............... i personally believe that if one ( esp bride's family) have the money and means to have a lavish wedding party they should instead give that money ( in the form of cash itself or as some investment or a property or gold which i guess families usually do) to their daughter than spending too much just on just few outfits , makeup & photography etc
i believe it's good for a girl/ bride to have some bank balance or cash or investment at the time of wedding ( either she earned it or her parents gifted that to her) than to have expensive designer clothes in her closet and lavish portraits in her room
my parents had a simple wedding too! they didnt have a lot of moeny, but were also sourrounded by cheapskate family. my mum had to make the food herself at her own wedding :( im sure she wishes she couldve had a nicer wedding though she doesnt say much on it.
Myself, my wedding was a bit of a rush job and so looking back, i wish it couldve been better, especially as i dont intend to have any more wedding days lol. my husband says one day we'll have a party and it'll have a sort of wedding theme to it to make up for it lol. Alhamdulillah though i have a great husband, and thats the important thing :)
mu wedding was totally simple ... in contrast to my parents being famous of throughing well organized and planned parties ... our wedding was planned in 3 days ... we werent going to have a mehndi function ... but then we decided we will and we had instead of the baklava of another couple who got married a day b4 ... i know !!!
