There was no extremism during BB or NS era atleast not even a fraction of the degree that exists now. There were no insurgencies in FATA, no Taliban in Swat. Hell not even before 2005. It all sprang up in last 2 years of Musharraf rule. There was not a single suicide bombing in 1999, only 4 during 2006 and 45 in this year.

It was there, but was mostly redirected to places outside of pakistan. Events that happened after Sept 11 (e.g. wars), helped recruiting new nut jobs, even in cities. Its a global phenomenon, so stop blaming Musharaf for all of this.
