Mamluks were Turkish/Kurdish slaves once themsleves owened by slaves. The great sultan founder of Ayyubid dynasty I mentioned in my post above was of Kurdish heritage.
Not only Mamluks defeated the mongols at the battle of Ayn Jalut but they were also hired by hindu lords in Delhi to repel mongol hoards who were a constant threat. The slave dynasty of India is the only one where slaves became kings. The Delhi sultanate also known as Slave Dynasty was started by a muslim slave Qutbuddin Aibak of Mamluk heritage. Qutab Minar if Delhi was build by Qutbuddin Aibak it still stands in his memory.

Berke Khan had several important contributions to the victory at ayn-e-jalut
- He ordered all troops loyal to him in the Mongol army facing the mamluks not to fight the Mamluks, so the Mongol force lost soldiers that way even before the battle started.
but most importantly,
2) His declaration of war on the IlKhanate to avenge the sack of baghdad meant that most of the Mongol army was sent to fight Berke Khan and the Mamluks only had to face a small fraction on Mongol Strength.
Without Berke Khan, the entire might of the Mongol nation would have been brought down to bear on the Mamluks; and if the Mamluks fell then the Mongols would surely have raced to seize Jerusalem, Mecca and Medina.

Ali a.s. was the greatest hero of Islam after the Holy Prophet (s). Unparalled in bravery, chivalrouness and altruism. An excellent judge and fantastic understanding of the religious matters.

Other than the Prophets (A.S), suhabas (R,A) and Imams, all those great muslim scholars who spent and sacrificed their whole youth, energy, abilities, wealth, property,.....etc in serving Islam.
If I start naming those in the past than I might do injustice. In the present age the person from whom I learned alot is Maulana Tariq JAmeel, who was also involved in the change in the life of Junaid JAmshed, Saeed Anwar and Muhammad yousaf ...etc.
May Allah bless us all and help us to follow the foot steps of the Prophet Muhammad (saw) and his true followers. Ameen.
