This is what happens when people don't know the context.
Well does anyone know the hadith from Abu Dawud about the conversation between Muad r.a. and Prophet pbuh? when he was being sent to Yemen?

Also, During the time of the Sahabah not ALL sahabas were Fuqhis. They referrred to one Specific sahabah, for advice.
Meccans had Abbas r.a., Medina would act on verdicts of Zain ibn Thabit, etc etc
Bukhari, Muslim, and Abu Dawood have a hadith regarding this.
Hudaind ibn Shereel narrates, "A sahabi asked about inheritance (to abu Musa) after passing away? He replied that Daughters/sisters should receive half, grandson receieve nothing. Then the people went to Ibn Masud r.a to confirm this, and Ibn masud said something else. So Abu Musa said FOLLOW THEM UNTIL THEY ARE HERE.
So my salaf brothers, if taqleed existed in the sahaba's time, why are we so ignorant in following it today? we have debt to Imam hanifa , Imam Shaafii' and the rest. They've done something big for us.
And the Hanafi fiqh is based mainly on Ibn Masud's rulings.
In another instance, Abbas r.a. showed no dissaproval to a ruling made by Zain ibn thabit, when Medinans asked him for a verdict, and it was different than that of his own. (About the women doing ziara, then her periods came in etc).
Therefore, taqleed ul-shaksi existed from their time.
Neglecting it, is just ignorance no? When so much evidence of taqleed is present in our hadiths. Its impossible for one to follow the books, without a Fuqhi.
Sahabas were in favour of this, so why are we deviating from it?
Deen is not to be based on your own desires, you follow it properly, and not at our own whims.
