which class? Upper elite class?
Majority plays telecast nowadays revolve around marital / extra-marital issues. Getting married seems to be the major problem of Pakistani society.
Is there a dearth of topics? What do you think are the topics which needs to be shown in dramas?

Most of the viewers are homemakers from middle class, others don't get that much of a spare time to watch a drama on TV where there are 10-15 min commercial breaks.

Is there a shift in viewers which lead to change in topics. I meant upto 90s they were trying to convey message like female education (Hawwa ki beti), family planning (Nijaat, Aahat), Anti-Narcotics (Ek thi GuRiya, Inkaar), etc. While those issues still form part of our society, we got many new topics for which viewers awareness is needed. Why don't they make such topics in our dramas?

well i dont know about khwateen digest but my cousin told me that majority of stories in khwateen digest are about marital affairs etc... as all dramas are from digest stories so automatically lack of creative writing occurs. Even behadd telefilm is a copy of old haseena moin play, can't remember its name (will mention).

The original drama was GURIYA directed by shireen khan written by haseena moin and won the best script award in Tokyo

I don't think so dramas are associated wth any particular class, almost everyone watch its like some watch only few, some watch 1 or 2 and some who watch each n every drama

to be specific, what I meant by targeted viewers is who they portray in today's drama. For whom stories are being written? gossipy elite class ladies who enjoy gossip during kitty parties or youth and common men in street? Do we have a project running on Pakistani TV catering youth problems like unemployment, why they fall for street crimes and what happens to the families whose bread and butter earners lost their lives in terrorism activities?

As far as Shahpar, Sunehre Din and Dhuwan are concerned I think Air force, Army and Police lost the charm in society and no one want to take a risk by leaving glamourised sets to do hard work on such themes. They did 'Khuda zameen se gaya nahin' few years ago, but I think most of people didn't notice that project.

Corruption , unemployment , terrorism , elderly care , drugs ,forced marriages , autism and other such cases etc are the topics which should be discussed in order to increase awareness.

i watch very little of 'Khuda zameen se gaya nahin' and liked it. Rahi sahi kasar turkish dramon nay puri karr daini hai.... hun tay stage dramay v changy nai rahay.

All the literature like 'Gentlemen Alhamd o Lillaha', etc has been consumed by Shoaib Mansoor in Sunehre Din and ABC, so it would be difficult for new team to come up with new ideas, as now we don't have new literature where army is glamourised.

yes, it was good series, but again most of the viewers couldn't watch that as it was telecasted from PTV. Recently PTV telecasted a serial on 'Samjhota Express' and it met the same fate.
And you are right target viewers are the elite class.I was reading an interview of samina ahmed and she was asked to play a role of amma bi from a poor family,on first day of the shoot she didn't bother to come on second day she came in trousers shirt and when the director ask her to change into appropriate clothes she was: aap ko pta bhe hy me ye amma type kapry ni pehnti to aap ko bandobast krna chahye tha mery pas to ni hain ye kapry me to trousers pehti hun or director bechara sir peet k reh gaya 2nd day bhe zaya
