Which Religion you would choose.

Re: Which Religion you would choose.

^could you tell us what it really is? what sort of beliefs/principals does it have and all?

... its Chinese ethical and philosophical system , in which responsibilities and obligation play a very important role ........... its nearly silent on religious beliefs . and the earliest surviving system.

I am sorry but to me Religions are exclusive ,and discriminatory , and inspite of all the Polemics of equality , its always US vs Them in them.

PS : since I have less then 25 posts to my credit , they are not allowing me to post Link.

despite how many attempts i make to show how beautiful Allah's religion is, you will always try to find flaws in it which dont make much sense. The very fact that when i read Quran, it feels as if Allah himself is talking to me. This fact alone is more than enough to find my mind peace.

Latter part of your post is something i wont dig into. These are historical questions of Islam which needs research on its own to understand it better.

you might try to project yourself as impartial and objective but you clearly have a vendetta agianst islam

I would pick islam

1-it has universal appeal , not a cult group
2-its based on teachings of a man who was by all accounts most deeply revered by friends and foes alike
3-who acted with justice and mostly forgave his enemies
4-who acknowldged the good in all religions
5- whose followers stuck with him thru adversity and a good many of them did not get corrupted even in better times
6-he combined religion with politics , his religion was not merely based on ethics and morality
7-He did not create a personality cult for himself amongst his followers rather considered himself a one of them , in a age when it was common to rule like caeser and chorsos.

And your posts are getting funnier.

Miss_Noland, I am not really sure you are 'religion-less' by reading your posts as you claim to be. ;)

Re: Which Religion you would choose.

me: hindu
what i would have selected: Hinduisum or buddhisum.

I have freedom to do anything i want rather then following what is writted in a book.I can use my own brain to decide what is right or wrong. And thirdly i love animals and these religions are very tolerant .No animal has to be slaugthered to make god happy.

So essentially you are denying the ‘Bali’ ritual of Hinduism. The sacrifice of animals.

And intolerance of Hindus for other religions.

Hinduism

Hindu animal sacrifice is know as Bali. Historical animal sacrifice in Vedic religion includes the Ashvamedha. The last known performance of the Ashvamedha was that by Jai Singh II of Amber in 1716.
There are Hindu temples in Assam (India)](http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=(India)&action=edit&redlink=1) as well as Nepal where goats and chickens as well as buffaloes are sacrificed. These sacrifices are mainly done at mandirs following the Shakti school of Hinduism where the female nature of Brahman is worshipped in the form of Kali Ma and Durga. There are many village temples in Tamil Nadu where this kind of sacrifice takes place.[9]](Animal sacrifice - Wikipedia)
In many Shakti shrines of Orissa animals like goat and chicken are sacrificed on Durga Puja in the month of Aswina (September-October) every year. In Sambalpur, this ritual sacrifice is performed in the Samaleswari temple (Pasayat, 2003:67-84).
The two methods used by Hindu’s to kill an animal are Jhatka (decapitation with a single blow) and asphyxiation.
Possibly the largest animal sacrifice in the world occurs during Gadhimai festival in Nepal. In the 3 day long sacrifice in 2009 it was speculated that more than 250,000 animals were killed [10]](Animal sacrifice - Wikipedia) while 5 million devotees attended the festival[11]](Animal sacrifice - Wikipedia).
In India ritual of animal sacrifice is practised in many villages before local deities. For instance, Kandhen Budhi is the reigning deity of Kantamal in Boudh district of Orissa, India. She is the presiding deity of Kandha people of this area. She is represented in the natural form of stone under a tree on the bank of the river Tel. Every year, animals like goat and fowl are sacrificed before the deity on the occasion of her annual Yatra/Jatra (festival) held in the month of Aswina (September-October). The main attraction of Kandhen Budhi Yatra is Ghusuri Puja. Ghusuri means pig, which is sacrificed once in every three years. Kandhen Budhi is also worshipped at Lather village under Mohangiri GP in Kalahandi district of Orissa, India(Pasayat, 2009:20-24).
Bali Jatra of Sonepur in Orissa, India is also an annual festival celebrated in the month of Aswina (September-October) when animal sacrifice is an integral part of the ritual worship of deities namely Samaleswari, Sureswari and Khambeswari. Bali refers to animal sacrifice and hence this annual festival is called Bali Jatra (Barik, 2009:160-162).

all i know is I havnt seen anyone doing this practice in city ..not sure abt villages The good thig abt hinuisum is it has evolve with time. so the bad practices has been abolished.I have never killed any animal neither will i in future.and the bet part wil be My god wont be angry:).

Everyone after Islam or say during Islam who was born is a Muslim. Rasool-ul-Allah (saw) said that a child is born without any flaw in his character. He becomes what he get's taught by his environment or put it short...

you are what you are sorrounded by...

so please don't teach us wrong things in future...

Thank You

I was born Muslim, raised Muslim and die as a Muslim. If practised Islam rightly, it's the best Religion. People who doubt that point have not made enough effort to understand this Religion.

All it means it is YOUR own way of thinking. Nothing to do with Hinduism.

By the way the information contains slaughtering of more than 250,000 animals in 2009 with five million devotees attending. So your claim of somehow Hinduism is 'evolved' with time is incorrect.

P.S. There is a reason why I highlighted the sentence knowing you will try to spread common misconception. Why not agree and be done with? :)

Exactly^, He (saw) didn't say we were BORN muslim. Again go back to my post after that and watch the lecture, Shaykh Riyad-ul-Haq explains it.

I am not going to dwell on it, but CP, you are not correct. Your video Maulana failed to make a strong argument. His conjecture can be refuted and not flawless. I understand what he tried to say though.

The Prophet Muhammad said, "No baby is born but upon Fitra (as a Muslim). It is his parents who make him a Jew or a Christian or a Polytheist." (Sahih Muslim, Book 033, Number 6426)

Here he (SAW) did not say "It is his parents who make him Muslim, Jew or a Christisn or a Polytheists."

If he SAW did not want to use word 'fitra' as synonym to word muslim/Islam then why not add word Muslim separately?

Peace diwana,

Plz let me know how U are different from the ppls who keep looking for dirt which has been written about Islam. And keep it quoting whenever they can irrespective of the subject of discussion. Also let me know how U are different from ppls who malign muslims by calling them terrorists just because few muslims happens to be terrorists.

U are yet to learn Islam which happens to be ur religion, leave alone commenting about other religions. May ALLAH show U the right path of Islam. AMEEN.

BTW I would choose and have chosen the religion of humanity, the only true religion of ALLAH.

Please let me know where I dig up 'dirt'??

The comment by chinto was inflammatory and had to be answered.

Read his first post where he criticized in sarcastic tone about animal sacrifice and hinduism God not needing the sacrifice. (Untrue statement for Hindu Gods/Godess)

Also he mentioned the so called tolerance in hinduism and no, it is not really true. You know it and we all know it.

All he had to say good for his choice of religion with non-inflammatory or non-sarcastic way, and that would have been fine.

I am fine with anyone who finds peace in following any faith or religion.

Re: Which Religion you would choose.

I am extremely confused as to what you are trying to say. How do we not have the right to choose our own religion? Everyone does. Being born into a Muslim family is not what makes you a Muslim.

Re: Which Religion you would choose.

muslim,born a muslim and die a muslim.(with iman inshallah)

Re: Which Religion you would choose.

I was born Muslim.. and if i had to choose id still choose ISLAM because i think Islam is the best religion and everything has already been written in the Quran.. Allah sent his messenger SAW to guide us setting his sunnah.. Im always happy i`m born in a muslim family

Re: Which Religion you would choose.

I was born Muslim and would stay Muslim. I'd never find out about Islam if I was soem murtad. All the propaganda, I'd never get the info on real Islam.

This is plainly false. A crackpot idea promulgated for political reasons.

Anyway. Haven't been born to any religion. Still don't practice any. Don't see any circumstances that would make me into follower of A religion.

Regarding the posts on this thread, it is rather funny in its banality how people praise THEIR religion as being the best of the best. Well, there are mostly Muslims here who praise Islam, but isn't it a common situation with followers of any religion? Seems that most of the religious people, of any religion, will tell you that their specific brand is the best and the most true of any. A bunch of arguments as to why it is definitely so will be gladly provided.

Re: Which Religion you would choose.

I love Islam, I wouldn't leave it for anything...

...But if I had never heard of Islam, my second choice would be Judaism (but they don't do conversions) or Non-Trinitarian/Monotheistic Christianity.

I also like Sikhism because it has so many Islamic concepts incorprated into it.

No offence anyone but Hinduism doesn't seem like a religion, even it's own followers don't really take it seriously, they pick and choose (as though they know better than their god) which shows even they don't really believe it.

Buddhism is nice but a bit bland and leaves a spiritual void with lack of god, I guess that's why Buddhists worship Buddha contrary to his teachings to fill that void.

1) Islam

2) Judaism, Non-Trinitarian/Monotheistic Christianity (where Jesus is a Prophet not a god), Samaritan (similar to Jews but pray like Muslims).

3) Sikhism

4) Zoroastrianism (they don't do conversions though).
