I totally agree with you, and I also agree that there other explanations for this incident as well. But do you think that any explanation could be enough for atheists? NO.

For your point regarding the topic, topic is ‘Why atheists detest the religion’. Irrespective of that topic is good to discuss or not, how the Noah’s arch example becomes relevant to topic? This implies that atheists detest or hate religion because of such supposedly ignorant story.

And what is the problem with that? An explanation of a story doesn’t change the fact that it is still just a story. Stories aren’t enough for some people, and I can understand that. They prefer to believe in things they can see and verify. You shouldn’t look down on them, or imply that they are being stubborn. It is perfectly valid to question things that have no proof. Faith isn’t enough for everyone but you seem to think it should be.
