The one they used to follow before being / converted to atheism or some other religion they used to detest when they followed a particular religion?
Do they concentrate more on the religion which they think has some potential to challenge their views. A connected question, do atheists study religion deeply before abandoning it?
question arises what makes people detest religions? lack of information or the way a particular aspect of religion they experience.
desire of having liberty to do whatever one wants. do you think if some atheist got enligtenment of existence of God , he will become 24 hrs worshiper? NO.
But the way they ask such questions is as if they want to become a saint and only need a proof first.

Is asking question to clarify misconception a bad idea? May be they don't easily get convinced.

Believe me, they dont come here to be convinced. Actually no one on these forums come to be convinced. we agree to those only whom we already kind of agreed with, its a myth.
they stay away from islam ( secretly those liberal atheists fasists think islamists are not mature enough for a good dialogue)
and they dont understand and care about hinduism/buddhism
i doubt they even heard about parsis/jains/bahai etc so wont care.
PS. There is nothing called getting converted to atheist. It is free of bondage and limits. Even religious people can be athiests. I have seen several working priests or head of religious organizations who are openly athiests.
My personal belief is that every one has element of atheisim in them, and more than half of the people are actually athiests but they are too scared to tell.

Interesting points.
How can a religious person can be atheist unless he develops some doubts about the religion?
were there no wars without involvement of religion. were first and second world wars instigated by any religion?
There have been wars which were not based on religions, but most have been like crusades, sectarian killings (like Shia/Sunni and Catholic and Orthodox), Palestine/Israel...

Not a SINGLE human being is without fear of God, be it atheist, agnostic or religious. No exception.
