As some one started the 89 Ptv Music thread . I have a question , Which Ptv centre provided better quality programming in the resent past?
Peshawar gave a few good ones . Quetta’s only better Ptv Drama proved to be Dhooan. Islamabad’s first commercial success proved to be “Guest House”…
The basic compitition was b/w Karachi and Lahore .. IMHO Lahore was better cuz intelectuals were there . Remember drama82 , 83 , 84 and so on from them . Drama Manchalay ka Soda proved to be a great show but you gotta understand whats being said there . Karachi shows were sooo cheezy if you ask me . Although huge commercial successes were those .. So acting wise and quality wise Lahore was better right . remember Sooraj kay sath sath , Waris , And the one on which there was a dialouge "aik rupa Aik rupa , do dhar ka bacha dekho .. Absolute classics and the level of acting was better than hmmm even Hollywood . I remember a drama of Khalida Riasat , And the scene was to show romance , Oh God under Pakistani circumstances and limitations she still stole the show only by her expressions .
So Lahore or Karachi , hmmm Waris or tanhaiyan ?
Comments ?
Even though Im from Isb, but Isb center made horrible dramas, even during the time when Pak Dramas were amazing. Guest house was alright in the beginning, but it started to suck bigtime as it went along. That guy shameem was such a horrible actor, that students used to goto his pizza shop in blue area just to tell him how bad an actor he was.
I would have to give my vote to PTV KArachi.
I aggree with Spock. I dont know exactlly what centers produced what dramas, but i think Tanhayyan, Ankahi, Samundar and angan tehra were all from Karachi. But still Lahore was not far behind with big success in Waris and many other ones. On STN Chand greihan was a big success from Karachi also.
Guest house was ok too in the beginning, but it did go down. I think Alpha bravo Charnie was from Islamabad.
Quetta usually produced good action dramas. Dhuwwan was i think the biggest success. But i think they had a couple more big ones too that i dont remember the name.
Peshawar was good in pushto dramas only and i dont remember any big success other than hala or the one which was made by Samina Perzada(sorry dont remember the name of that one too)
Wat I think... if its a Quality Comparision keeping in mind the Resources available...
QUETA center will be in the Lead...
It has produced... Some Outstanding Dramas.. having very good Location and Direction...
LIke..
Bakht Nama... DhuaaN.... Baarish Ke baad... Paalay Shah.... Chaakar-e-Azam..... lots and lots more...
Baarish key Baad was really good. It had a pretty sad ending though.

Actually, alot of it was shot in Lahore, and other places, such as bosnia, base camp etc. But then again, it was ISPR that made that drama.
Though I'm based mostly around Lahore/Islamabad it goes without saying that Karachi was better with Tanhaiyaan. That was by far the most sophisticated and forward looking tele serial we have had. The stuff from Lahore was way too crude.
Karachi and lahore both have made some really good dramas. Don't know about the other centers.

I think that the dramas from lahore dealed more with local issues(like chaudharis etc) and were not as glamorous as the Karachi dramas were. Dramas from Karacha were more into love stories. The famous writers in Karachi were Haseena Moin, Anwar Maqsood and his sister Fatima Suriya Bajya. In Lahore i think it was mostly Amjad Islam Amjad and Ashfaq Ahmed etc.
I think Dasht by Abid Ali was also from Quetta and it was really good also.

Yes right but in Romantic category Lahore was ahead too . A lot ahead . Try to watch some of the Classics by Roohi Bano and Khalida Riasat . In the kids category Lahore was way ahead . Remember Alif Laila and some others . Karachi ones were a bit cheezy or drawing room plays . But boy o boy , seriel "Aanch was a good one" . Remember that .
Aanch was really good. That girl in that was too cute. Actually I have it in video. I dont remember Alif Laila, but i remember Alif Noon. I have that one too. That one is a classic. I might have seen that one a hundred times. Nanha did a very good job in that drama.
But my all time favourite is Angan tehra.
Fifty Fifty was good too, but i tried watching that again and i was not very impressed.
Nanay say Yaad aya .. His personal life was depressed . He lived across the street from my home in Lahore . Was a rich dude and had two wives . And he was sick and tired of the Household crap . Once when the two wives did extremes he took out his revolver and shot himself in the head . Good bloke was he .
Lahori dramas were always different, they had more love and warmth in them, compared to Karachi dramas, which focused more on social issues and were much more serious.

I think Haseena Moin was very good at this. Both Ankahi and Tanhaiyyan even though every serious dramas have very good comedy in there. But otherwise i aggree with you.
Being Romantic in my view means "Being serious and being warm and saying multiple things in just one damn sentence " . So if you say some one is Romantic it means that. other wise the usual girl guy combo has comedy and like the usual "whatever type every day ABCD itsi bitsis " same as Karachi plays " ...
I don't say "bad" . But personal choice . Lahori Romance is a little like nerd A$$ed passionate and extreme one . And Karachi one is like " every day type" .
My vote definitely goes to Karachi station for the reasons mentioned above. :k:
Unkahi, Tanhaiyaan, Angan Terha have been my all time favourites. Not to forget 50-50 was also very good!
I think Karachi Center is better is producing quality stuff... UnKahe, Tanhaiyan, Jangloos, Aanch, Marvi, Aarosa, Dasht and many many more... i remember during 90's (probably 96-98) there are really great great dramas from Karchi center ...
lahore center is good and may be in 2nd place.. with dramas like Andhera Ujala, Waris and many others...
but all of these are now stories of the past years... in the last 3-4 years.. there is no geniune hit from any of the PTV centers... now we are inclined to Indian Channels.. and every1 is watching star plus... may the reason for this the poor productions from PTV centers these days...
Guest House was a such a rip off of British comedy show Faulty Towers.
Karachi dramas ruled 80s and 90s but now they are outdone by all the vulgarity coming from Lahore dramas and other shows. They just can’t compete with Lahore anymore.
