Well I don't think they were insisting, mostly people prefer desi kapray on eid and stuff because it the only time we get to wear those clothes whereas we wear western styles/clothes on daily basis. It was just an opinion.
Personally, I just love dressing up desi on eid and I love seeing other desi girls dressed desi, it is just so festive..
Anyway, at the end of the day it is your choice of whatever you want to wear. What people said was just their opinion based on what you have posted. :)

Of course....they even don't bother to read the full thread before writing their precious opinion.

Mashallah, beautiful dresses... your choice, the soft rich colors, the fine fabric is just out of this world. May Allah bless us when you wear and look oh so beautiful, *of course in front of your husband and in abaya on EID day. :)
*
By the time we finish progress few more decades, *Muslim *women will want to start wearing bikinis to EID and celebrate EID days in shorts... hey of course, they will have abaya and hijab on top so it doesn't matter.

I don't know what does this mean.....but may Allah give you the wisdom to think in a right manner and give you the decency. I don't want to get in debate with you as I have explained myself in detail to all the narrow minded-uncultured paindus.
In Quran in the ayah of hijab Allah has ordered men to do hijab(lowering gaze) before He ordered women. If you have any true knowledge of Islam or any decency in you then I'm happy to debate with you, otherwise I don't like getting in debates with those ignorants who speak rubbish. And after reading most of your posts I guess you lack of knowledge, wisdom and decency.
So please in the future don't expect any answer from me.
I know you have tried to explanin the issue several times already
but I am a little confused here. Why do you care that these western dresses
resemble an abaya when you are only planning to wear in front of your hubby?
Do you normally go in front of him wearing an abaya?

Thanks for your reply.....no, I wasn't planning to wear it only in front of my hubby......I can wear it with abaya or gown with slits in it in front of every one....in other words covering every revealing part(open and tight).
I was intending to wear it with layers(gown, jumper etc) over it in front of other people So when I come back home from outside I can wear what I'm already wearing in front of my husband without those extra layers.
this thread is hilarious..thanks for the laugh!!!!
i kinda agree with hareem...i know pple in saudi, they wear their abayas and what not in public...but when they are in their private homes or in the company of females, they wear stuff like that....eh...
us pakis need to differentiate ourselves from religion and culture...cuz trust me, there are shalwar kameezes that are just as revealing, yet are still considered "decent" , just because its a shalwar kameez....
