1 - Rawalakot-AJK (in childhood 2.5 months every year in summer)
2 - Rawalpindi (most of the time)
3 - Wah Cantt (4 years during bachelors degree)
4 - Paris (3 years and perhaps some more)
5 - Montreal (current and almost a year in total)

In Pakistan, Rawalpindi since I’ve lived there. Its not as cool as Lahore or Karachi but hey I have 111 brigade close to my home and when they march people distribute sweets in Lahore and Karachi

Outside Pakistan, Paris because its in Europe, I’ll take Europe every time over North America.

Sorry can’t figure out which one is your most favorite in the list I also have all my childhood and teenage memories associated with Riyadh.

Favourite is London.
Chicago is second,
Rome third,
Philly fourth.
Least fav is probably Karachi or Riyadh, rest fall somewhere in the middle.

We also have a Dhoraji colony in karachi where majority of the population is Bohras/Bohris, not sure if it’s the same as Dhorra.

no no…no connection…this was a 100% Hindu village adjacent to a Muslim University. they probably didn’t like to live close to a meat eating Muslim neighbourhood. so, they all vacated when offered good prices for their homes and land for cultivation.

it’s now 100% Muslim neighborhood with retired, semi-retired and still employed university professors. one of my bro lives there. i visit this place whenever i go to India. it’s an amazing place.

Rawalpindi : born and raised here, did my bachelors here, met my husband here . love it
Boston: Did my MS , made awesome friends, attended awesome iftaars at islamic centers and went for great trips from there. would give anything to go back once more , enjoyed every bit of it
Tarbela: Lived for a little more than a year there, boring place
Skardu: Currently living here. Beautiful place to visit , not so much to live

My dream is to live in lahore , i just love that place

Amsterdam, Netherlands - was born there & spent the first 1-2 years of my life there.
Rotterdam, Netherlands - my hometown (approx 19 years).
London - been living here since nov 2012.

I can’t choose between London and Rotterdam. I was raised in Rotterdam and my family still lives there, but I kinda love London now.
I just went to Karachi for the first time and the city has really grown on me, I think I have got a new favourite city. <3

I have lived in the following cities in chronological order:

1. Tarbela (KPK, Pakistan)
2. Nowshera (KPK, Pakistan)
3. Peshawar (KPK, Pakistan)
4. Abbottabad (KPK, Pakistan)
5. Sheffield (UK)
6. Leicester (UK)

My favorite among them are Peshawar and Tarbela : )

I always thought Tarbela was a dam never knew it’s a city but my geography is . How much of a culture shock to move from a conservative province (KPK) to london???

Well Tarbela is a small city in district Haripur. The dam is located there and is named after the city. My father used to work on the Tarbela Dam project and we used to live in a colony where all the engineers etc involved in Tarbela dam project used to live. It was more like a civilian cantonment. Everybody knew each other and the colony was very secure. I really miss those days.
Moving from the conservative KPK to UK was not much of a cultural shock. I think most of the people in Pakistan are already exposed to the western culture through hollywood/british movies so it wasn’t much of a shock. Contrary to the general perception, I find KPK more culturally conservative rather than religiously conservative and I found parts of Sheffield and Leicester more religiously conservative compared to parts of Peshawar or Tarbela. May be its just my experience : )

I have lived in the following cities in the order of

Riyadh, KSA (spent one third of my life there)
Karachi, Pakistan (Spent the time of college and uni)
New York, NY, US (Came for work and fell in love with the city, lived around 9 years)
Raleigh, NC, US (Had to move here as my husband had been living here for past 10 year)

In all of them I’ll always choose Karachi as my fav city in a heart beat then may be new york.
Hated living in Riyadh and would never wanna live there again despite the fact that my parents are settled there.

Elaborate Riyaadh please.
