I have lived in the following cities in the order of
Riyadh, KSA (spent one third of my life there)
Karachi, Pakistan (Spent the time of college and uni)
New York, NY, US (Came for work and fell in love with the city, lived around 9 years)
Raleigh, NC, US (Had to move here as my husband had been living here for past 10 year)
In all of them I’ll always choose Karachi as my fav city in a heart beat then may be new york.
Hated living in Riyadh and would never wanna live there again despite the fact that my parents are settled there.
Re: Which cities you have lived in by far and which one is your favorite???
i have lived in:
Lucknow, India
Lucknow, Canada
Allahabad, India
Aligarh, India
St.John’s, Canada
Toronto, Canada
i loved each and every city i lived in. if i’ve to choose most and least favourite, i’ll pick:
Toronto = least favourite [too many people; too many Desis, too much traffic]
Aligarh = educated people, Muslim Culture; Muslim dominance, good Urdu speakerts, University atmosphere in neighbourhoods, small city, friendly people
btw, Dhorra is a neighbourhood in AligaRh which is considered the most educated neighbourhood in the world because it houses mostly the retired professors of Aligarh Muslim University where the owners of almost all the homes have a PhD degree. there are about 10,000 homes in the neighbourhood.
it’s located next to the Jawaharlal NehruMedical College of AligaRh Muslim University.
Re: Which cities you have lived in by far and which one is your favorite???
I would want to live in London. I’ve always loved the weather there and the atmosphere, especially the huge desi community. But if I had to choose a place over everything else. It would be Lahore, the weather the people the whole old school theme of the city. The old Lahore & the new. Every single thing about Lahore is legendary. I made the most friends in my life in Lahore and in just a short period of time. The people are absolutely amazing there.
I so want to move back there. I absolutely hate New York city. I hate the rules and the crap nature of people who live here. One day I’ll move back, not sure when but soon…
Re: Which cities you have lived in by far and which one is your favorite???
Some places in Yorkshire are surrounded by countryside but I wouldn’t quite call them pindhs. Some small towns rather remind me of those pictures on biscuit tins or boxed chocolates.
Re: Which cities you have lived in by far and which one is your favorite???
They remind me of Middle earth from Lord of the Rings. I think that Hobbits and wizards will pop out. Castles and Dragons. Btw Is Piccadilly considered a pindh?
Riyadh - not a huge fan, it was okay but never really had an attachment to the place, nostalgia only
London - love the place, home, childhood home is there and parents, visit as much as I can.
Karachi - meh- it was okay. And has only deteriorated. Have not been back in years
Philadelphia - loved it, great times and it’s always on my list of places to visit
Rome - one of my fav cities in the world
Cleveland - blah, was there for a year because I needed to be there. There is a small spot in that city which however is among the most important places in the world for me.
Wilmington - dull, dull, dull place. although housing is inexpensive and it is very close to Philadelphia.
Chicago - home now, love it.
Kansas City - not some place I will want to live in now, but liked it back in the day.
