For going to Pakistan I prefer Emirates *and for Canada *Air Transat is better option than* Air Canada*.
For EU travel any budget airline is good except Ryanair. The airport they use in Paris is way outside the city and round trip to reach the airport alone is 30 euro for one person which negates any fare discounts. Vueling *is a good option as their fleet is new. Other options are *Transavia, Easyjet, Air Berlin and Air Europa.
i've booked my flights with British Airways this time...let's see how good or bad they are...i'm going to India in end of August iA for a couple of weeks.
domestically in India, i fly Air India because my town is served by this airline only. i get a hot meal during my 50 minute flight which is great! :)
Thai Air is good, Singapore and Cathey are very good. Qantas is Ok and Virgin Australia is good for what they charge.
a large number of GS-ers seems to LOVE Emirates...what in particular it is that you don't like about Emirates? is it their schedule, their food, their entertaiment system, their on the ground and in the air service? what is it?
I value how the staff treats and respects the people. I find Emirates staff to be rude and unprofessional. I dont care about the trivial things like entertainment and food. I am not travelling for that. The pain you have to go through at the dubai Airport is unbearable. I was traveling on green passport both times and had to go through with this eye scanning bull****. And no one seems to speak English at the Airport and half the time you dont know what are you doing and where are you going. Again the airport staff is so rude specially when I had to go through immigration. I literally wanted punch one that Arabic idiot. They dont have the word 'courtesy' in their dictionary.

i guess you are right...this Arab attitude is pathetic. they treat others as if they are nobody and they are somebody. this is one of the reasons why i avoid connecting through Middle East. they are more like animals than humans.
Travelled in a lot of airlines my favourite ones are Qantas and Cathay Pacific. The worst airline I have travelled in was the now defunct Pan Am.
i heard that during Pam Am's dying days, they used to offer 3 times the miles accrual and that meant one trip to India/Pakistan would have earned one FREE round-trip to India/Pakistan and one FREE round-trip to within North America.
even then, my bro tells me that there were not many takers of the deal as no one wanted to get stuck on the other side of the globe in case they stopped operating...soon, they declared bankruptcy.

I traveled from London to NY, 5 hour flight, 747 plane with over 300/400 passengers and only 2 air hostesses to serve them. As we were coming in to land the food trolley reached our seats. That is how bad they were.
There used to be a joke about them. They had a billboard ad saying "no one knows the Atlantic better than us". Someone had written underneath "you ought to, you have been in it so many times". :D

lolllzzzz...true...who else? :D
weren't there any IATA rules back then governing the ratio between number of flight attendants and the number of passengers on a flight?
in today's time, there are anywhere between 20-25 flight attendants on a Boeing 747 or Airbus A-380.

The airport staff is not Emirates staff. Mostly the Emirates staff is foreign or you encounter Indians at the boarding gate when they check your passport, boarding pass etc. I've no complaints from them so far.
Yes the dubai airport staff is lazy and biased towards brown color. When I went to their immigration for the first time, they were serving white people in seconds, passport scan and go. When my turn came the immigration guy took 15 minutes to clear me. Behind me were all south Asians so he was in no hurry. He talked to his colleagues scanned my passport and took my eye scanning picture 3 or 4 times.
Then he asked for my name, I told him. But he asked again, No tell me your full name, I told him the same again. After some minutes of pushing his fingers on the keyboard, he asked me again for my full name. This was too much, what full name he is asking from me. Then I told him that this is my first name, and this is my last name. I do not have any middle name. This is my full name, I have no other alias, nick name etc.
Again he spent some minutes on computer and asked me, what is your grandfather name? I was dumbstruck, what sort of idi*t he is asking my grandfather name. His name is not even on passport then I told him my fathers' name. Finally he stamped my passport and I went to get my luggage.
