For going to Pakistan I prefer Emirates and for Canada Air Transat is better option than Air Canada.
For EU travel any budget airline is good except Ryanair. The airport they use in Paris is way outside the city and round trip to reach the airport alone is 30 euro for one person which negates any fare discounts. *Vueling *is a good option as their fleet is new. Other options are Transavia, Easyjet, Air Berlin and Air Europa.
when i travel to India, i prefer to fly into my hometown and not forced to take the train, i mostly fly with Air India. this allows 'piece system' [2 suitcases weighing a maximum of 23 Kg each] on their domestic sector. i choose convenience over better in-flight service. the fares are very competitive. besides, each round trip to India gives me a free round-trip domestic flight.
within North America, i fly with United mostly.
when i used to travel to Singapore Airlines, i chose Air New Zealand simply because it gives me a free stopover in India in each direction. Singapore Airline is indisputably the world's best airline. their on-the-ground and in-flight service is unmatched. love it!
I haven't travelled on Singapore Airlines or Cathay Pacific myself but have been told that they're really good.
Among the airlines I have travelled on Emirates is my favourite airline by a long distance. However even within Emirates there are differences in their service level depending on whether you are on the Europe-Dubai leg or on the Dubai-Pakistan leg. Even though the service quality in the latter is worse, it is still better than most other options on the Dubai-Pakistan route.
It's funny how these now world class airlines were at some point trained by PIA.

don't Etihad and Emirates serve alcohol on their flights?
For long haul flights, emirates all the way. And since my sister lives in dubai, it just makes even more sense for me to take advantage of the journey break on the way to karachi :D
Will fly Turkish Airlines for the first time later on this year, I'll report back then lol
