Where Talibans are getting their ammunition from?

Its been many many years since they have been classified as Terrorist organization and been thrown out of power, but still they have ammunition - rifles, grenades, bombs, bullets, you name it.

I can understand that they forcefully collect money from the people of the local area (bhatta) and maybe drug smuggling and funding from their supporters and what not, so they have money. But who is selling them those arms. Even an army cannot survive for 9 years on the same inventory of ammunition, especially if that army is in constant war.

Talibans are constantly fighting and terrorizing regions and they should be running out of arms. There got to be someone (maybe a country) who is constantly feeding them more bombs and bullets.

Re: Where are Talibans getting their ammunition from?

Maybe the country on our east side.

Re: Where are Talibans getting their ammunition from?

This is what arms dealing is all about. It's often on the news. People charged with smuggling weaponry. Like the Russian arms dealer who was supplying arms to South American countries. It's a pretty lucrative trade, with profits in billions of dollars. And as we've seen, money is not a problem for the Taliban.

Plus, you'd be amazed at how many many people are producing sophisticated firearms like the AK-47 in their homes. It's a major cottage industry in Northern Pakistan.

Of course the conspiracy theorists will allege that RAW is providing the arms to the Taliban, but if that's the case, is the ISI and the Pak Army sleeping?

Re: Where are Talibans getting their ammunition from?

If India is doing that then are not they repeating the same mistake that Pakistan made. Paksitan helped Talibans to weaken Afghanistan during Zia time, they did it - and who became the next country in line as a target - Pakistan herself. If India is strengthening Talibans to destroy Pakistan, that got to be the most stupid thing India could do cause India would be next in line.

Re: Where are Talibans getting their ammunition from?

I know, I 've been to that market myself. Why there is no crackdown operation by any agency to destroy that industry?

Re: Where are Talibans getting their ammunition from?

Exactly. Mismanagement, I guess.

Re: Where are Talibans getting their ammunition from?

or someone is making money out of that and pressuring govt not to take action against it.

Re: Where are Talibans getting their ammunition from?

Actually they grow it on trees, some trees grows AK47, some grows even more advanced and sophisticated weapons, there are some special techniques to grow RDX in huge quantity... the seed of such weapons are also grown using some methods not open to the world... this is how these terrorists get multi-million dollar weapons in enough quantity to fight 7th largest army of the world... i think anyone who accuse enemies of Pakistan for supporting these lives in fools paradise, India for example is the most peace loving nation ever lived on this planet in last 20 zillion years.. thay excellent relationship with all its neighbor and they have never ever supported nor funded any terrorism in the region, be it Mukti Bahni back in 60s and 70s or Tamil tigers in 80s and 90s..

Weapons/ammunition just grow by themselves...

Re: Where are Talibans getting their ammunition from?

Maybe. What do you think of the alleged involvement of Pakistani generals in arms deals?

@Hannibal, maybe you'll be kind enough to send me seeds for a M16 riifle?

Re: Where are Talibans getting their ammunition from?

hanib, sarcasm well taken but the thread is not to accuse India of supporting Taliban (or are you accusing India in an indirect way?) ..

Re: Where are Talibans getting their ammunition from?

India is the obvious choice but I would not be surprised at all if Saudi Arabia has a hand in this.

Re: Where are Talibans getting their ammunition from?

LMAO! Producing AK-47s in ones home! Thanks for the laugh. I gotta send this quote to my UN colleagues for the sheer stupidity. They will truly enjoy it.

Re: Where are Talibans getting their ammunition from?

Honestly, if its India then it got to be the dumbest thing India could do. These animals dont know to stop and after Pakistan, it will be india's turn. If India is thinking that Talibans will consider India friends cause India is supporting them then India does not know Talibans. Talibans got be the most ehsan faramosh bunch of suckers in this world.

Re: Where are Talibans getting their ammunition from?

Um, was that sarcasm or do you actually refuse to accept that "home-made" Ak-47s are easily available in Peshawar and elsewhere in Pakistan?

Re: Where are Talibans getting their ammunition from?

Could India be supplying 'just enough' to keep Pakistani military 'busy'... but not enough to destabilize the whole country?

Re: Where are Talibans getting their ammunition from?

LMAO! The fact that you think you can actually produce an AK-47 in a home is amazing. Sheer stupidity.

Re: Where are Talibans getting their ammunition from?

That is quite possible Kaka, but how is India defining 'enough'? For all practical purposes, its USA who is with Pak army in this war so India cannot define enough without keeping that in mind.

Re: Where are Talibans getting their ammunition from?

I cant tell AK47 from AK46 so I dont know if you can home brew that, but I know that the illegal ammunition market near Peshawar sells rocket laucnhers, let alone automatic and semi automatic rifles. These guys are master of back-engineering and you give them a rifle and they will produce a clone in given time.

Re: Where Talibans are getting their ammunition from?

You know what here is google: Google

Now see how many parts you have to buy which are build in factories. You can put it together with the necessary parts. But you can not build an AK-47 from scratch. It is impossible.

Re: Where Talibans are getting their ammunition from?

I believe Indian military and intelligence is quite capable of defining 'enough'.

If they can make our bowlers ball no-balls, why not determining 'enough' support for Taliban? They have had a long and influential presence in Afghanistan.

As for USA, even my south-Indian flatmate asks me why does Pakistan even let them operate in Pakistan (after every bomb blast in Pak). Call me crazy, but I do believe USA never really attempted to 'finish off' the Taliban.
