More than 12,000 contractual employees in different departments of the City District Government Karachi (CDGK) have lost their jobs due to the ruling Pakistan’s People’s Party’s reconciliation with the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), Pakistan Today has learnt.
The contractual workers had been recruited in various CDGK departments since January by the PPP when the MQM had quit the federal government in December 2010 over a number of differences with the ruling party.
Well-placed sources in the city government told Pakistan Today that the PPP-led government had given the nod to the MQM-backed CDGK for removing all contractual employees after convincing the latter to soften its stance over the introduction of a new local government system including commissioners as well as nazims.
The MQM had demanded the removal of the contractual employees as it feared they may be regularised later and the party may loose its grip on the city government affairs. The senior leadership of PPP had held talks with the MQM and decided that these appointments could be cancelled, the sources claimed.
Subsequently, Karachi Administrator Mohammad Hussain Syed issued the order for cancellation of all appointments made in the city government and its subordinate departments since January 1, including those on contractual engagements with immediate effect. However, the workers on disabled, deceased employees’ quota and medical officers were spared from the axe.
Through another order, the administrator also cancelled all postings, adjustments of employees of different town municipal and union council administrations in the CDGK and its subordinate departments made since January 1. The relieved employees were directed to report to their parent local bodies with immediate effect.

It is worth mentioning that the recent termination of services of over 12,000 CDGK workers has not affected those employees who were appointed by the former Haq Parast city nazim Mustafa Kamal and were also regularised without fulfilment of legal or official formalities. **

If MQM want to kiss PPP's behind, ie.hold rallies, issue statements, you should discuss it with MQM-wallah's.

The issue here is not PPP vs MQM. Its about proper utilisation of funds whether in Commissionerate or local govt system. PPP MNAs / MPAs are big cheats for doing nothing in their constituencies but MQM who claimed to be representative of exploited people (Mazloomon ka sathi) could not prove that they are representative of all mazlooms irrespective of any bias and this will cost them their penetration in southern Punjab and other parts of the country.

I first referred to cheat PPP MNAs and MPAs before referring to MQMs claims and their bias towards some groups / areas. Agree that all the parties are corrupt, but no one then shouts slogans of 'World No. this and that' like MQM.

Even the army dictators chant that they were the saviors of the country.. and they made miracles in the country. Let's not be obsessed with criticism of just one group/party..

We all know PPP feudals are famous for playing Sindh Card to exploit people of Sindh, but MQM who claimed to be party consisting of educated members also exploited people of Sindh by not delivering at par and what small deeds they done for those areas were advertised as charity by MK. He is more accountable for not giving proper share to those ignored areas than being appreciated for few projects during his tenure he boasted in recent Press Conference.
Its not just criticism for criticism sake only. When you are eager to take credit for small things be ready to accept blunders you made. 'Meetha meetha hup hup, Kadwa kadwa thoo thoo' can't be accepted.

... Or if you think MQM is a bunch of angels brought down on people to serve them.. You should defend them with something concrete.. Not just chants of hatred and bias..
Let's not try to play this victim card.. And let's not assume that people criticize MQM because of some ethnic bias.. Our society is much more matured than that now..!!!

So what was concrete in ignoring poor ppl of Lyari, Malir & Qasimabad. Were there no funds allocated for these areas or there were limited / insufficient funds allocated for these areas.
What is the logic behind giving statements like 'Ye hamare bande hain ya tumhare' and 'Lyari wale hamara diya hua pani peete hain'.
Can you justify that MQM Nazims were unbiased for utilising allocated funds and they didn't misappropriate funds?

My brother's friend has land in sindh dating from partition era and he would tell us different stories like one where two hard working punjabi brothers were run out of sindh by sindhi waderas with huge holdings just because they weren't sindhi. Sindhis have to own up many of their problems one day, but what do we see? More eulogizing of dead people.

Aren't you tired of spreading ethnic BS. There are tons of non-Sindhis land owners in Sindh. I don't know what are you talking about? So when someone talk about MQMs bias you will counter it with Sindhi- Non Sindhi discrimination. For your kind information common people of Sindh (whether Sindhi-Non Sindhi) are very much tolerant and don't have to do anything with this discrimination. Hundreds and thousands of non-Sindhis live in rural Sindh, in small towns running businesses doing their jobs with much safety and no bhatta. Don't try to create impression that non- Sindhis are treated in rural Sindh as non-Balochi in Balochistan.
No doubt there Feudals are involved in land Mafia and other crimes, but its everywhere with feudal mentality (not only with Sindhi Waderas who are a minor percentage of total Sindhi population) even ppl are suffering from this in larger cities and MQM (metropolitan wadere) is also involved in supporting such activities. Remember occupation of Gutter Baageecha and Nazimabad plots by MQM for which Naimatullah Khan also approached Courts.
For your information MQM has its offices from Karachi to Kashmore (almost in all districts of Sindh) and they didn't report any safety issues there.

Btw, no need to tell me about the maasomiat of PPP. Had it been about imran khan, then that pasha dude would have shown up scores ago with his takht e lahore and imran khan's jewish connections to it. YOu can blame karachi on mqm, but not the whole of sindh.
