There is no argument that he did some work for Karachi, but that’s neither the worth of funds allocated nor it is the ground that he/ his party may not be pointed out for corruption and bad planning on certain matters.

Thanks for the compliments. If the thread has succeeded in showing the truth and real face of fraudulent World Class # 2 mayor, who was so praised by mqm lovers and few others, bent on distorting the history of Karachi, then this thread has well served and remain on this forum as a historical fact.

Yes but these rain drainage nallaha are fully encroached (tin hatti, leyari, nallah over which whole Urdu Bazar rest in Burns Road etc...) to block the free movement of rain water which ultimately creates big lakes on main roads on which boats can float easily. Have you remembered the monsoon of 1968, when rain fall was 7" in 24 hours? The continued rain fall for many days did not create even small pudle in whole Karachi. The rain water cleared in hours though there was no rain fall at all. Now even few mm of rain, create havoc in Karachi, why?

Well in 1958 many people were killed when crossing the Lyari river (when there was no bridge on the river.

Then Karachi saw the worst day of its history when some 250-300 people were killed in the worst ever flooding on June 30, 1977 in Lyari and Malir River.

Malir River was made safe when embankments were started in 1983.

Lyari express way has also made Lyari River - safe (so far the only good thing it had brought).

I wont agree. MQM might have done mistakes/fraud etc but still you can not write off all the projects completely. People of Karachi are being benefited from these. They could have done more if everything was done transparently and more effectively.

First thanks for correcting me about year of monsoon (1967). Secondly it doesn't matter whether you agree with it or not. The fact is what that mayor had spent billions and billions, the output is negligble which indicates mass bungling and stealing of government funds. By the way can you point out single benefit, that really benefitted all people of Karachi? What you talk about is selected work he had done which you can not say it benefitted all people. His mantara is "yeh tumharay log hain ke hamaray log" and what ever he had done was for "humaray log".

2004: Rs 152 billion (source ADB.org)
2005: Rs 227 billion (source ADB.org, this number is Fed+Provincial)
2006: Rs 365 billion (source ADB.org, this number is Fed+Provincial)
2007: Rs. 520 billion

Now total sum of 4 years development budget Rs 1,264 billion which is still less than half of what PML-N leader claims was allocated for Karachi only where as these numbers are for TOTAL development in Pakistan, not just Sindh, not just Karachi.... TOTAL. Now if you can find better/accurate numbers allocated for Karachi that will be great.

So according to your figures, it is more than trillion. I say the work he has completed, did not commensurate with the amount. Cost/Benefit ratio is too high. If proper audit is done, you will find more than 3/4th of one trillion in to the pockets of super duper mayor and his hawaris.
