Re: Where are they now?????
I never understand why people single out MQM for anything happened in karachi.
Did any of us ever bother to critisized PML, PPP, JI for all the gunda gardi in lhr, fsd, mlt ..etc.etc.. just an example: if you travel from fsd to gujrat .. their are certain area's on the way where people don't travel in day light let alone at night, .. well wtf about all the slave jails in Punjab.. no body cry about that.
Problems are everywhere and on top of that karachi population is over 13+ million.. in 13 million if 100 people are dying everyday. .that is still on par with other cities of her scale, but the dynamics of Karachi politics, its strategic position and situation around the region makes it a melting point. I fear the day when something trigger in Karachi and it will become second beruit, even then we will blame only MQM.

I nominate this post of Firenze, the most – err - the only sensible post by him…

Re: Where are they now?????
Its funny that when it comes to claiming the resources/budget of Karachi, its been told that non-MQMers are in millions but when it comes to crimes, its all MQM.
Just other day there was a thread by someone about how number of Pathans in Karachi has now crossed millions and most of them are not MQM supporters so seats and resources should be distributed accordingly. Most of the mqm-haters who were in consensus on that topic are blaming 100% crimes on MQM here.
Although no one can ridicule the fact that MQM is involved in these street crimes but law and order is a national issue right now. Its more serious in Karachi though because there is no other city like Karachi in Pakistan (in terms of population of 15 million +) where all ethnicities have sizable presence. Just like MQM is involved in this, so are other parties specially ANP and PPP supporters in different area. I am just curious if your cousin told that during all these incidents, miscreants identified themselves as MQM workers or were they wearing MQM badge?
and Muzna, I am just wondering if (in gatherings you go to), mqm-supporters attributes development of better infrastructure to MQM or they also claim that MQM has bring crime level to 0? If their claims are about development, what did your cousin tell you about it? did see saw better roads, flyovers, parks, lighting in Karachi or he still have to travel on bicycle? just curious.

Re: Where are they now?????
wow...I go away for a bit and look what happens......
the only person that seems to understand what I tried to say in my completed "frustration laden" post is Spock.
let me make it clear......my complaint against MQM is because as a result of their terrorist activities, including the initial violence which they continue to claim was necessary, they have pretty much crippled Karachi.
granted the roadways have improved.
granted the streets are lit (albeit at the cost of load-shedding etc.)
but what is the point of having better roadways when you can't safely travel on them?
what is the point of the streets being lit save to be able to identify the weapon that is aimed at you when you are being mugged?
what MQM has done is created a level of "judiciary" that supersedes all others that are present in a "normal" society.
while this may have been a good thing if it was fairly implemented.....corruption, greed and bias tainted it and created what we have today......
a society in which nobody is safe and there is no place to turn to for justice.

Well that's Pakistan in a nutshell - not karachi only :)
Re: Where are they now?????
including the initial violence which they continue to claim was necessary,
MQM claims that they were involved in some 'necessary' violence?
Re: Where are they now?????
I don't know Muzna what do you want to hear, but everyone have different opinion of Karachi & MQM.
justice justice .. justice.. why only for MQM, why not CJ start with the pending case from 1992 about the bribes to all the high profile politicans
Why he don't bother to take up the case of missing person, where the hell justice goes now?
Re: Where are they now?????
The problem is not MQM, the problem is this that one is not allowed to say anything good about Karachi, or defend Karachi in anyways, without being labeled as MQM supporter. Start putting down Lahoris by attacking their judgment and intellect that they support someone like Nawaz Sharif and see the reaction on this forum. You will be warned for generalization.
Start doing that to the people of Karachi, and heck no one should oppose you cause if they do, they are clearly MQM goons.
Re: Where are they now?????
so do you have any complain from the "other" party or its all just one-way traffic?
when after maghrib, cross fire takes place in certain areas of Karachi and people dies on both side, there has to be an other party, dont you think so? Its so amazing that only one party (MQM) always gets criticized for this and not the other one.
I am not sure how much connected are you with the situation on ground (other than your cousin's visit), but every party has its fair share in crime in Karachi (as per their size) but then again its easy to blame everything on largest party just like its easy to blame everything on amreeeka

azkar & muzna starting to take over eastern forums of gs... and you are going to fortifying western & central parts of gs by bringing mercenaries from life1 & r&s
well sounds like a plan .. any cm & mod don't want to use fire power on innocent cafe guppies can defect and land their planes anytime in bep&e - full security will be provided.
their go fight.
Re: Where are they now?????
this is not about laying blame.....this is about silencing those mouths that continually claim they have made Karachi better.
Karachi is not better.
I prefer the Karachi without fly-overs and without lighting.....but with peace.

Re: Where are they now?????

yes.....apparently the initial "take over" of Karachi was the "necessary violence" where MQM fought with commandos etc.
Re: Where are they now?????

Why then are you offended by being labelled an MQM supporter?
