Where are Pakistani and Muslim women in corporate America? As a consultant I have worked in numerous Fortune 500 companies and it really saddens me that I don’t see many pakistani or muslim women anywhere.
There are tons of Indian women, Pakistani guys, even more Indian guys. I see this everywhere in Finance organizations, HR, IT. Yesterday I walked passed a senior VP who is a Indian and a female. Why can’t this be us???
If all of them are becoming docs - please let me know. It will really make me happy!

Because we're too busy embroidering up our jahaiz!
njgal, the organization I worked for several years ago employed many Pakistani women at very successful positions... more than you'd expect to see. It was a health care system and we had many women vice chairs, if I'm not mistaken, a chair as well, and a couple in research heading imporant teams.
So yes, while the numbers aren't that many, they are increasing day by day.
In fact you get to see many successful professional ladies right here on GS!
Niksik - I do meet some really awesome professional women but seems like they are VERY limited. Most of my friends work as well but are into If there is a glass celing for women - is there is another one for pakistani / muslim women in Corporate America?
I don't recall in all my years of working meeting one that who was even a director?
Don't get me wrong - I see tons of women muslim doctors / dentists. But seriously I see the numbers diminishing not increasing (in my personal expereince) in corporate setting.
What happens after the whole jahaoz thing is done and over with?
Then its the kids ka Jaheiz :D
Seriously I think more are in the medical field..only a very few I know are in the corporate world.
I guess now more then ever Pakistani women are getting into the corporate world. The business school I go to, I see so many desis , Pakistanis too...most of them majoring in accounting though.

Simple - there are 8 times more Indians in the world than Pakistanis, so obviously you will see more Indian women in Corporate America or anywhere else for that matter. Also added to the mix are different career choices (Medicine), societal differences etc.
The problem probably lies at the core of the choices that are recommended and in some cases thrust upon the girls.
I've been teaching at business/management schools for the past six years and have taught core as well as elective courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels. In all my years of experience at three different schools I've taught at, I've only probably come across 8 to 10 Pakistani girl students. To put things in context, I figure I've probably taught a total of around 600 students or so. On the other hand, Indians are fairly well represented with an evenly distributed student population among males and females.
It has to do with the thought process of Pakistani men and their push for their wives/sisters/daughters to stay home and raise family etc. and also the thought process of Indian men and women.
Many Indian women I have seen in these kind of positions have sacrificed the family life and they even sent their little newborn babies back to India to be raised by someone of family members in India while pursuing their 'career'. A trait which gets disapproval from Pakistani men and even Pakistani women.
The intelligence and abilities of women from both these countries is similar.
Numbers do count but cultural and religious aspect is stronger in Pakistani/muslim families.
Let me add something: Not all Indian women are alike.
Many of these career oriented women are from south India like Kerala, Hyderabad and few from East Punjab. I have yet to see position holding women from other parts of India like UP.
You're right about south Indian women...but they are mostly in IT desk jobs. The corporate jobs are taken by north Indians from areas including Delhi, Mumbai, other metros, as they have better communication skills.
