Where are the Pakistani and Muslim women at?

Re: Where are the Pakistani and Muslim women at?

Even in the entry level associate positions (IT or Finance) jobs there are a lot of Indian women sometimes even more than Indian men.

Diwana - I also noticed that they have the kids here and then they send them off to India for the initial years.

A acquantaince of mine sent her daughter to pakistan for 1 year to live with her Daddi because she was studying for her USMLE exams and people have NOT let that woman till this day live it down. Her daughter is 7 now!

Re: Where are the Pakistani and Muslim women at?

Pakistani parents are obsessed with making their kids doctors... I know this paki girl who worked as business analyst for almost 2 yrs and loved her job. She even had plans of getting MBA but her parents forced her to med school. She hated it but switched just to please her parents. Oh and all paki rishta guys thought she was too career oriented (she had to travel alot for her job and even went overseas).

I agree Lusi - I think if you have a passion for medicine you should become a doctor. If not there are tons of other careers. Corporate jobs provide great balance for women with children and household responsibilites.

  1. Telecommuting is an option. (mostly 1-2 days not a problem)
  2. Instead of waiting 10 years - you can start right away after school

My uncle sons was pushed into medicine. He quit after his first year of residency. he hated it - he just did ot to please his parents. He owns a real estate company now and mA so happy.

It is hard to make all people happy. People could have helped her instead of criticising.

Re: Where are the Pakistani and Muslim women at?

They didn't - Critisized her that if she wanted to a doctor and couldn't take care of her kids then she shouldn't have kids! I think they are just jealous.

Because we don't have the confidence and outgoing characteristics some of these other women have. We don't know how to kiss up to get to the position we want. I have been looking for a job for over 2 yrs, but I am stuck at the same position.... =(
