Re: When kids turning Teens, should we go back to Pakistan?
does your brother not have any desi family or friends in the US? islamic values don't just come from living in Pakistan either, btw. they start, and are learnt, at home first. this kind of assumption is a little bit insulting to those who've been raised in the west and are fully aware of their cultural and religious identities. how do you think their parents did it?
we have family members here including my parents, siblings and few cousins as well. well he doesnt get this. infact many girls in my family in pak have BF's and dont pray and do all kind of stuff; they go to good universities to enjoy and not study...so far no cousin from pakistan have good education or career even though attended good universities.
whereas those relatives living out of pakistan are more religious and their kids are more educated and have great careers.
we have tried to convince him to change his mind due to safety and future of his kids. His BIL is doing the same thing so he has to and SIL wants to do to as she things life is great there; you can get servants and chefs so no issue of housework.
they tried to convince us too but i wont move. i know my kids have better future here and they can be what ever they want and still practice islam as they should.
