i have seen it more then once at the airports that pakistanis who have dual citizenship for example canada and pakistan,they use canadian passport to travel to pakistan. is it only me who finds it strange???
Isnt it easy just to buy the ticket and get on the airplane,instead of applying ,paying and waiting for the visa.
i will always use pakistani passport when traveling to pakistan.i am planning to travel 2 US this december on my pakistani passport…now what i need to know is.. do we have any guppies from cuba here who lives near Guantanamo Bay?

The hope (with dubious legal basis), is that if you enter a country as a foreign citizen, that foreign government will provide more protection for you than if you enter as a local citizen.
Having said that, I use my British passport to go to Pakistan only because I can't be bothered to fill out the paperwork and go through all the waiting to renew my pakistani passport.

aint got one..maybe I should get it. dunno what all the process is
dont go to pak that often, and aside from that is no use really, all it is is a travel docment, and its easy for me to travel with my british passport than I could if i had a pakistani passport.

I use mine when I'm travelling to Pakistan and only then.

It's different for US citizens than for dual nationals, since the US does not allow dual nationality.
I think the way it works is that whilst the British government would grant me limited assistance if I get into trouble in pakistan, the US government does not assists you at all if you enter another country on anything other than a US passport.

Ever since I became a US Citizen, I never used my Pakistani passport. I’ve experienced this that if you have a pakistani passport and you go to pakistan, the police at the airport (being punks that they are) bug you more than if you have a US passport. Now, whenever I go to pakistan using my US passport, i just walk through the security smoothly without any problem.

A case in point is a current dual-british-pakistani citizen, who is on the verge of being executed. The British government is applying pressure on the Pakistani government not to kill him.
Other examples of trouble include some criminal charges, etc. The fine print on documents stating what the government will and will nto do for dual citizens covers the details. For example, the British government will not attempt to protect me from conscription into the Pakistani army, even if I enter Pakistan on a British passport.
In order to get full, rather than partial, protection from the british government in pakistan i would first have to renounce my Pakistani nationality.
On the other hand, no matter what passport I enter any other country on, the British government is obliged to protect me, and can be forced to do so by the courts.
