never let it get below the last quarter mark cuz there’s always gunk settled in the bottom and despite filters being there you don’t want that stuff clogging up your fuel injectors…

or so I’ve been told.

this is nonsense because whether near empty or full, the fuel pump’s intake is from the same place on the bottom of the tank.

I haven’t had the guts to actually “fill” the tank up. I don’t let it go under a quarter, but usually just get $20 at a time.

I hate paying for gas!! lol

The only time I’ll actually fill the tank is if I’m planning on traveling far.

^True that I hate spending my money on my gas guzzler of a car, seems like its always thirsty. I don't let it go lower than a quarter full because then I get panicked.

Usually around quarter full, I'll fill it up again. Usually. every Sunday I have a quarter tank of gas in my car, so I fill it up for the rest of the week.

i'm sorry but Allah aapkaa nigehbaan, aameen!...it can be dangerous for a female to run outta gas and get stranded at the wrong time and at a wrong place. please don't do that...get gas when it's less than a quarter left in the tank.

Guac and UZ - you make me feel better about myself :D Forget about the fuel light, I wait until the light is flashing warning me my car is about to stop unless I get to a gas station in the next 2 kms.

And I have no excuse except it's sheer laziness and procrastination - in the morning, I'm rushing to catch the train so no time and in the evening, I just want to get home after a long day out of the house.

I usually am aware of where gas stations are..........so I fill up if I feel as if there won't be another one for some time

I never do that, :bummer: I go 20 or 30 miles after the gas light is on.

Same here UZ, I noticed I can go pretty far even with the gas light on.

My brother once told me that you can drive 30km after the tank is at empty - that there’s some “extra gas” in the car. Two winters ago when it was FREEZING cold and I was wearing 3 inch stilettos and it was slushy/icy out, I decided to test out this theory. I was maybe 150 yards from the gas station when the car just sputtered and stopped on me :bummer:

Um yeah, I had to walk to the gas station and buy some gas, walk back to the car fill it up enough to make it to the station, after which I then proceeded to buy a full tank of gas.

Really it worked for me, it was around up to 25 miles I drove but car was going on. What I have noticed,it’s my observation if your car’s tank is 21 gallons, usually light turns on 19 gallons. So you still have 30 to 35 miles to use depending upon you car mileage use. Whenever I fill the tank it’s usually 19 gallons and I read it in car’s manual it has a 21 gallon tank. So it has always two gallons in reserve.
