I got married when I was 22...took a break for an year and I am due in a few months with my first baby inshaAllah... =)

This is aimed at ladies only as men have no problem fathering kids at any age.
At what age did you first become a mother? I didn't have the privilege of marrying young and then waiting a few years to have a baby. By the time I get married in a few months, I will already be up there in age.
I'd rather have at least 1 or 2 kids before 30 because the difficulties with conceiving and even having a healthy baby increase with age.
Just curious to know when most of you had your first? And if you got married at a late age, would you still want to wait a year or two before having kids or would you get started right away?
I had my first born at 22 although I wanted to enjoy but its fun to have a baby.And you can still have babies until 35 and little bit problems occur after 35 but still ladies have babies around 40.

When i got married, right after i spent over a decade after that working away from hubby, whilst hubby was in France working also. Once i left work, we spent 2 years just travelling around the world and doing what WE wanted to do.... you know, holding onto our last bit of freedom :)
I had my first child in my early 30s, second in my mid 30s... and third is on its way....and i'm in my very late 30s..... we never had trouble conceiving....it's whatever is in your kismet....:)
Enjoy your wedding, and take things one step at a time... what's the rush with you becoming a baby machine!?!? :)

i got married at 21 , got first kid at 22 . got 2nd kid at the age od 25 and gave birth to 3rd one just 2 days before my 27th birthday , he is one month old now ... i'm 27 and my hubby is 29 now and we have complete family mashallah .

the risk of not having a healthy baby goes up in your late thirties, and increases in your forties.
as far as conceiving is concerned, you can concieve all the way up to your menopause.

^ i was reading that the risk is pretty minor, all things considered. you're at higher risk for a down's syndrome baby if you give birth after 35 as opposed to before 35, for instance, but the "higher" is only very marginally slightly higher than otherwise.
i think if you or your husband are genetically pre-disposed to carry a disability gene within you, you're at risk anytime you choose to have a baby.

well i know men are no welcome here but just as a reference i'll tell you about my mum's experience right out of her mouth...
"Well I and your father decided to have some fun time after marriage rather than going immediately towards getting babies, though after getting so lax we never knew how time passed by and when we realized, it had already been 4 years! You know I got married when I was 25 so it makes around 5 years when you barged in to our lives (laughs notoriously! man i so like this aspect of my mum) (she was 29)... after that we decided to have another and then your brother came after one year or so (when she was 30)... well we thought that our family was complete then and we continued with you two. But as you know you all became so big and got involved in your studies so much that we felt a bit lonely. So your father came with the idea of having another baby, i was shocked at first considering my age, which was 43 at that time. But he said it would be ok n all, so we started trying again and mutahir then came after two years (she was around 45) and he, as you can see, is healthy and jumpin...."

^ My MIL had my SIL at 42. She is mashAllah happy and healthy -- and 16/12 years younger than her brothers.

yeah my sister in law has a 8 year and a 10 year age difference with both her brothers.
i think so long as you are in good shape, iA, you should be fine.

I agree, having at least one child before you hit 30 is the ideal way.. cause you have to be young to play with them or take them out for camping or whatever... what maza it is when you are pushing 40s all coughing and sweating and do not even have one child in your life... nada!

^ While that may be true, I will say that the moms I know who had kids at 30 or later are full of energy and wisdom for their children. I don't think women should feel pressured to have children before they are ready. But it is important to keep biology in mind.

I have no problem with women having kids in their 40s, what ever Allah has decided for them.. but I was merely talking about those who deliberately put it on hold for selfish reasons.. oh they wanna make their career first or they are too afraid to lose their freedom.. or even worst they don't like kids to begin with.
