Arabs respect money and power. Now I'm not stereotyping however a good percentage of them are like that. Same thing with Pathans. "Pathan paisa khata hai". Popular catch phrase.
Pakistan does not have the power to economically help them and as far as technically there are many choices besides us. So they have little to hold on to us when it need be. Pakistan on the other hand can always extract economic merit from them but little in terms of technology.
In todays world sadly your respect comes from your worth.
