Or are you taking that Curt Russel plan of covering the Enemy in your favourite food and then eating them… except instead of chili sauce your probably going to use peanut butter and jam.

Well I like to travel light you see, besides I dont value the Katana that much and Claymore mines while very usefull for ambushes etc they will be quite time consuming to set up so if I was going solo I would take the bare neccisities. The chainsaw is perhaps the only heavy item I would ditch very early on. Jerry can and RGD 5 grenades will go a long way to seeing of the average zombie horde.

I was thinking that, but C seems to be the most versatile and mobile. The melee weapon provides nice length (so the zombie can't get too close), and is not too heavy. The automatic rifle is versatile as well. I was thinking B, but the sniper would be way too heavy. I was thinking about E as well, but the chainsaw would be heavy, and would require gasoline, so it would run out eventually. Tough decisions.

If I was really going for weapons, they would all be close combat weapons. No guns. Why? Because Zombies aren't stopped by an M16. They are stopped by a grenade. But not bullets. They are stopped by a war hammer to the head. Or an axe to the face.
As my Paladin said in WoW. My mace. Your face. I love macros.
So in that regard, I would carry a mace, dual wield scimitars and have a crossbow.

^ Actual good point on bullets your best bets are old guns. I'd forget the standard modern pistol anf wield a much heavier old school Smith and Wesson .50 or even the Savage Arms .70 revolvers. They will put a massive hole through anyones body, you can line up 9 of those big 20 litre water cans and shoot a tennis ball sized hole through all 9 of them with one shot. The only modern gun that can compete with this damage is the 50 cal Desert eagle or the 455 Casul round and the .500 Smith and Wesson big bores.
Also the old Winchester .70 and Marlin lever action 15 shot repeater rifles will deal megga damage too if they can stop charging grizzly bears Zombies will be no problem. 303 and Sprinfield 306 cartridges will do simmilar damage too from a longer range about 800 yards or so.
Up close your better off ditching the Katana, its a fine cut and thrust sword but it wont last long and the Tsuba is not adapted to vicous close up combat it is fine against humans but no good for Zombies.
Mace wise forget the spiked ones and go with the Bar shaped Mace or the Italian flower type clubs. Better than a chainsaw but just as vicous would be an Aztec obsidian sword, but thats rare and not ideal. Portable chainsaws are pretty lightwiegth these days.
I would definately reccomend a sword or large knife with a full knuckle duster type handguard. The best mass produced sword would be the classic cavalry sabre and if anyone knows the deadly chinese weapon "Baat Cham Do" that is probably the best all round close qaurter weapon I know of, in the right hands I'd have that over any sword for sure.
Crossbow would need to have broadhead arrows and preferably impact explosive warheads like Rambo for maximum effect.

I think we have to establish what kind of zombies we're talking about here. Something like "The Walking Dead", which is manageable, or hard mode, aka I Am Legend or 28 Days Later?

Well it is very debatable becuase Zombies from Romeros time were slow but hard to kill... modern infected like 28 days later are much quicker but die just as fast too.
I still think taking to the seas will be my best option.

Yeah but the infection rate in 28 days was fast as hell. Its not that you died and became infected over a period of days or weeks. It was literally hours if not minutes. That basically means its you vs 8 billion people. Just nuke'em
